I was asking retarius in connection with his "taste buds and stupid" comment.

Well, retarius, have you?

But I knew you wouldn't mind if I chipped in.

You probably need to precede the name with an @.

Starbucks claim to use ONLY arabica coffee beans. Arabica beans are usually more expensive than robusta coffee beans. Robusta as the name implies have a much stronger flavour. Good tasting coffee is usually a blend of the two types of beans, I suspect that lacking robusta in their coffee makes it insipid.

When I came to Thailand in 2008, there was no decent coffee to be had except the revolting Thai 'sugar with a small amount of added coffee', so Starbucks was a relief, but pretty much limited to Bangkok. There were no espresso machines to be had either (or it seemed so). I splashed out for a Starbucks espresso machine which is a great machine, and 15 years later still working fine. I boungt some Starbucks coffee to go with it, but when 'esspressed' the coffee was weak and insipid. I changed to Bon Cafe and all was well. Good coffee at home.

Still looks cheap compared to the lunatic McD prices in nutty California due to the idiot Newsome increasing min wage to a wage breaking businesses and laying people off

I think you touched a nerve with the left wing, socialists on this tread. They love idiot Newsome.

So what?  There's no other reason for any companies to be in business other than to make a profit.

Everybody needs access to an affordable cup of coffee in all coffee shops, its a basic human right.

B0llocks.  As you well know.

How dare he force big healthcare to pay their workers $1000 for a 40 hour week, or force huge American McCorp to pay their workers $800 for 40 hours. The land of the free, the land of opportunity eh?

The only good thing about Starbucks is that they have decaf coffee.

I know decaf sucks and Thais have no clue what that is, but unfortunately some people can't have caffeine due to health reasons.

As with coffee, isn't that a purely subjective opinion?

There are opinions, and there are facts.

A Kia Stinger turbo has about 30% more turbo boost pressure than the comparative Mercedes 200 SLK.

So what?  Higher boost in that model doesn't make Kia "technologically superior" to Mercedes.

Just buy a coffee machine and make your own starbucks coffee at home if you like it.. Much cheaper and far less expensive.. We did the same and we went to the bakery and bought some cake and we had our coffee in the garden, for 2 persons less than I have to pay for one 1 cup at the Starbucks store without cake...

Been in a Starbucks only once here and never at home. That was once too often, Amazon and Black Canyon are better and cheaper. Arigato coffee is the best value, 30 baht in Tops.

I used to go to the same Amazon everyday and I heard people go up to the counter and order ''Ao Vanilla Latte Starbucks ka'' or ''Pumpkin Spice Latte Starbucks'' and other combinations.  And the staff actually did it.  That one made me chuckle.  So they take the American menu from Starbucks and order it in Amazon for half the price.  I swear I even saw someone with a Starbucks flask and they put the order in it.

Let's see how those profits turn out, after all their products are taken off the shelves in the largest supermarket chain of Europe.

There is a difference between making a profit and greed. What is currently happening with many companies shrinkflation and unwarranted price increases under the false disguise of soaring energy, commodity, and labor costs, may well have a counter effect on profits,

That's what I think when I visit a gas station and sit outside 7/11 drinking my coffee and watch people across the forecourt drinking coffee in Amazon for twice the price. Muppets.

But how much is a Starbucks coffee anyway ?

Never tried one.

The muppets at Amazon and 7Eleven don't realize that coffee at Starbucks comes in many varieties and sizes. The biggest size is venti which is 20 ounces or 600 ml. The last time I bought one it was about 135 baht, which is probably twice the size of what the muppets at Amazon are paying half the price for.

A 5 baht increase is not even worth discussing.

In all my years in Thailand, I've never had a coffee at Amazon. I would always be one of the muppets the Amazon muppets are watching in Starbucks LOL.

The only 2 branches of Starbucks i go to are : Iconsiam 7th floor and EM Quartier 6 th floor garden rooftop ,  at this 2 locations i am ready to pay for the premium price they charge due to the nice view and  atmosphere(you dont get that view and atmosphere in Amazon coffee )  , i go there not for the coffee quality ,  rather for the 2 to 3 hours i spend passing time and relaxing while browsing the net with the nice view around , i find it  worth the premium price  i paid .

It must be a brand or a selfie thing I guess....

We went in Amazon this morning I think the coffee is as good as anywhere, but their seating leaves a lot to be desired, maybe it's they dont want you sitting there too long, people camp out in Starbucks, I know my wife takes her laptop and does her accounts,

I did too, there is no comparison and Starbucks has soy milk, Amazon does not. It's amazing what people will say to justify their political biases.

And yet another reason not to go to Star$$$$$. I realy dont understand why people want to have a coffee overthere. You can get much better coffee for a much lower price.

It's a status thing in Thailand.... the magical logo

if Starcraps could get a label to stick to a tu*d Thais would take a selfie eating it.

Have you ever bought anything from Starbucks?

Yes, hundreds of times. I have posted on here that I think their coffee is weak and insipid. I think it because they don't use robusta beans in their blend....but they might well be diluting the ground coffee with some non toxic brown stuff....I simply don't know. But what I do know is that I, and I am speaking for me, have to have an extra shot with everything...it cost 50 baht for the extra shot the last time I bought one. The stuff is very expensive, tasteless, and not as good as vastly cheaper Amazon. If you don't agree fine.

small = 1 shot

medium = 2 shots

large = 2 shots.

I won't drink Robusta. Arabica or nothing.

I forgot about Black Canyon, it was a life saver for me when I first came here. Excel;lent cup of coffee, but I would have said a similar price range to Starbucks. The brilliance of Starbucks was that they in produced coffee at $3 a cup vs the standard US price of 60 cents for a cup of (not espresso) filtered coffee (that the whole world drank back in the 80s). Now in the US people rated highly Dunkin Donuts coffee, and it was ok. But suddenly the whole world noticed that you could make a bundle selling Starbucks-like coffee, ie like espresso-type coffee for prices close to Starbucks. I've no doubt they pinched the idea from some small West Coast coffee shop or shops.

The land of aspiring wage slaves, I'd say. I got tired of those materialistic people.

Robusta isn't drinkable by itself. Mixed with some arabica, robusta adds strength and depth, while the arabica makes it less bitter and more drinkable. That's my opinion.

Large is 3 shots and often in many countries it's 4 shots. They ask if you want the extra shot because they are made 2 at a time.

You've bought coffee at Starbucks hundreds of times despite finding the coffee weak and insipid? Surely after a few lousy cups you'd stop buying? Assuming 200 purchases, that's about 30,000 baht (with extra shots) you spent on coffee you don't like.

135 baht for 600ml cup of milk is a lot. Can buy in the supermarkets atm 2000ml for 95 baht.
