Phang Nga – A Chinese tourist from Phuket died after a snorkeling accident near an island in the Khura Buri district.

The Royal Thai Navy station at the Similan Islands told the Phuket Express that they were notified from the Similan National Park staff on Friday (January 5th) that a Chinese tourist fell unconscious while snorkeling near the Ninth Island (Koh Gao).

They rushed to the scene to find the 30 year-old Chinese man who was unconscious and who had no pulse. They continued to provide him CPR while rushing him to a hospital on land in Phang Nga.

People do not realise how dangerous snorkeling is the second you dive under the water. It's when the swimmer is unaware of the build up of co2 in their blood. As the dver gets closer to the surface the co2 content expands as pressure of the water decreases on their body causing them to pass-out inches from the surface (no warning felt). When you pass-out you start to breath hence drown. When snorkeling stay on the surface always. More experienced scuba divers die snorkeling than from diving accidents!

What you're referring to is shallow water blackout. The cause is a lack of oxygen, not build up of CO2.

Individual Chinese swimmers and snorkelers have been drowning here every season for many years. It's a fairly common occurrence.

Drowning is a leading cause of death in China. It is the primary cause of death for Chinese children, exceeding even car accidents.

One more individual dying on holiday will not raise a blip in China.

any links to support that or it's just your opinion

.

Which of the 3 statements are you having trouble with?

I do my research before posting using google. With this, I wrote a very similar post a number of years ago after some Chinese tourist drownings. I still rechecked my facts before posting again.

For future reference, when quoting statistics, I do my research first because after 18 years on this forum I find there are many people of your ilk who will disagree just to troll.

If you want to argue the premise do your own research.

the 3 of them, since you are quoting statistics it should be easy to provide the "official"  sources

Look it up yourself, I'm not interested in catering to your demands. It is of little concern to me If you choose to disbelieve my posts. I've explained my processes in providing the information.

Why don't you follow your own reasoning and show your alternative facts that you claim disproves my research.

You're too lazy to even make a decision on which of the 3 different points I made that you claim to be false.

You're just trolling.
