snoop1130 Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 BANGKOK (NNT) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has opened a new hawker center in Khlong Bang Lamphu area, close to the city’s historic quarter. The new center provides hawkers with places to sell their products while giving back sidewalks to pedestrians. The opening ceremony for this new center, which took place yesterday, was presided over by Governor of Bangkok Chadchart Sittipunt who planted seedlings of mangrove apple trees to mark the occasion. The BMA aims to provide retail spaces with reasonable pricing for hawkers, allowing them to operate in more suitable locations as opposed to sidewalks. The governor said the city hall is working to open another hawker center at Lumphini Park. The new center features stalls selling food and desserts at affordable prices, along with beautiful murals that visitors can take pictures of. brianthainess Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 Seen many of these pop up around Thailand and they have all failed to attract customers, if they can't drive a motorbike inside and buy stuff without dismounting, and what rent will be charged? I feel sorry for the vendors who start off with hope, but I wish them success.
PETERTHEEATER Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 Surely worth it for the 'beautiful murals' alone. 😋
