The larger branch upgraded itself, new stuff showing up more regularly, better choice of fruit, veg, alcohol. Staff better behaved as well. But the main difference is the smaller branch, which completely transformed from a useless no-point-to-stop-there place to a decent option in between major shopping trips. Same staff, but also noticeably better service. To be clear, neither is great. Just better than before. In comparison, the two Big C branches went downhill, we hardly ever go there anymore. Can't even buy a tin of baked beans probably about the most popular farang food in the BigC near the crossroads in Nakhon Sawan.

You seem to make a habit of getting things wrong all the time, Tesco decided to pull of Thailand and sold their stores, nothing to do with getting Stooged out (whatever that means) Personally i haven't seen any difference, still poorly managed with no guarantee what stock they will have from one week to the next.

Seppius
LotusFresh near me is a big improvement, added fresh meat/fish cabinet for one thing, my only gripe about this one, not very good at marking the prices properly, but they often have 200 grams of Anchor butter for B71 on a buy 1 get 1 deal

Fortean1
The Lotus's in Pran Buri just south of Hua Hin has stopped stocking sour cream. Bread is scattered in two or three areas around the store, and IMO prices went up after Mr. CP bought it. The same with our Makro re no sour cream. I found sour cream at Villa Market in Hua Hin at the same price of 107 baht. My Thai wife of 50 years suggested I buy more than one and put these in our chest freezer. I looked up freezing sour cream and found: "Sour cream can be stored in the freezer for up to six months. To thaw, simply transfer the amount of sour cream you need to the fridge and allow it to thaw for several hours. You'll notice the texture will be a bit watery and separated. Simply whip it with a whisk to reach a smooth consistency. Jan 5, 2566 BE" Terry ( a few miles south of Hua Hin, near Khao Kalock ) 1

herfiehandbag
"Tops" (Central Plaza) has a fairly good range of " British Items" . They have some sort of tie in with Waitrose. I presume that Waitrose send them a regular container load which is then broken down and sent off around the country. Fascinating to see what Waitrose regard as "essentials"! Peterphuket
We know, only the 3 richest people manage this country with everything, including we farangs, what can we do? But to be honestly it is now the same all over the world the multinationals control us, like Shell, Nestle, Unilever and many others, they call the shots, and we keep paying them. But having recently run out of my english tea bags, ive been hunting around hua hin looking for even pg tips, but ive had no luck. Yes, tesco lotus had a great selection, but sadly no more. Even topps used to stock pg tips, but now not. I may be wrong, but i suspect all the main retailers in Thailand are now owned by the same group, which isnt good for consumer choice, but apart from the tea bags, it wouldnt affect me. For tea try Barrys tea look at their web site, they are in Dublin, they do a very good postal service, the tea is not bad. That is about the only thing I miss from the UK. Back to Tesco's they own tea was not bad, but like all Thai supermarkets they stock control is not good they run out of something and that is it for a long time, looking for a Pesto sauce at Big C today..............run out. Also since the Tesco 'management' influence has gone, the store layout has become a game of hide & seek. Since the what has gone? You think they had special English shelf restocking courses and how to leave trolleys stuffed full of folded up empty cartons blocking cross-aisles? English customer service training on not bothering to collect the empty plastic shopping baskets from the check-outs and putting them back where they're needed. The English ergonomics specialists who deemed that shopping cart pickup should be placed in the middle of the building so you need to walk past the entrance to get one before turning around and walking back to actually enter the store? Tesco was abysmal before it became Lotus's. Big C rocks!

snowgard
Sure!!! With Tesco & also Carefour & also Family Mart the prices was much more cheaper. After tey was sold all Supermarkets, Hypermarkets & Wholesale Markets belongs to just 2 families. Everything in Thailand is going to monopol businesses. After DTAC & True cooperated, the 1 year sim prices jumped up 700,- THB.

IMO , Tops association with acquiring and selling Waitrose products has been cut back or at least it has up here in Surin & Buriram . I used to buy Waitrose cod fish fingers and also their garden peas which were sweet and tasted the same as a newly opened pod of peas . Alas , both have been off the shelf for some time . Only peas that were previously available but not now were Talleys which I do not eat myself . Cod fish fingers are no longer available up here but maybe have in more populated places e.g. Pattaya , Bangkok ? Indeed , I have just been on the Tops on line page and the only items that are now imported from the UK to Thailand by Tops are biscuits and sweets . Also they do not even have an English pork sausage .
