BANGKOK (NNT) - The Kaset Fair, an annual event highlighting the latest advancements in farming and agriculture, is being planned by Kasetsart University. The event, taking place from Feb 2 to 10, will spread across various zones on the university grounds, offering a diverse array of activities and exhibits.

One of the key attractions of the fair is the Kaset Station exhibition, where visitors can explore the university's recent research and innovation in agriculture. The fair, in the past years, featured the Kasetsart Floating Market, a shopping haven that brings together a wide range of local produce, fresh flowers, and OTOP (One Tambon One Product) items.

For those with a fondness for flora and fauna, the Plants of Love and Pet Society zones will offer a selection of plants and pets. The event also caters to family entertainment with the Fun Park, which includes hundreds of street food vendors.

Continuing its tradition, Sahamongkolfilm International will also host an open-air movie festival of Thai and international films every night, with free admission. Cultural performances, shows by university students, and concerts by amateur bands will also be featured every evening on the university’s central stage.

For attendees, the university has arranged ample parking available from 6 am to midnight, with locations accessible via the university's parking website at www.kuparking.ku.ac.th.

Now why would anybody hold a fair on farming innovations when the farmers live hundreds pf KM away from the fair?

Those interested will travel... not everything can be on your own doorstep.

..... and organisations that buy from farms, those that invest in farming, and potential new students are likely to be in Bangkok.

I've been to a food technology exhibition at this university, and it was impressive.  Thai education may lag in other areas, but in the food and farming sector they are quite advanced.

We have a Kasetsart University in my neck of the woods, it's very impressive to say the least with a very modern teachings

Even outshines the local Silpakorn and Rajabaht campuses.

Which is true enough, but how many farmers are there in Bangkok compared to the rest of Thailand which is where they should hold it, preferably in every rural province or perhaps close to a clump of provincial borders.

You might ask why not put an agricultural university in the middle of an isolated rice field?

I only know about the USA but it is the same there.

Agricultural fairs are often held at state universities where the agricultural research and development is taking place.

Universities are often found in cities.

I went to the local farmers fair this year  and it was almost all food, clothes, kids toys  a few fairground rides for kids

an annoyingly loud concert, very limited plants and flowers  and no Ganja what so ever 🤨

They did a a couple of pigs and rabbits to pet..not to eat 😋
