February 5, 20242 yr Just an observation and a question: Anytime I see a loving and caring young family, one so caring for their young, the question comes to mind, inevitably, what must they be thinking. Or, are they thinking? Or, are they unable to think clearly, due to denial? Or, did they never think before starting their loving family? Logic has nothing to do with human behavior, of course. However, as years pass by, the evidence mounts, and the evidence does not look so favorable for any wonderful outcome for those born today. Such a tragedy, really, that the means for change is within our grasp, but the will is not. Here's what I mean: So then, what's the DEAL, here? What causes this unbridled optimism and enthusiasm for starting young families, these days? Are people today so blind that they wish to subject the very ones they love most to such risk....20 years in the future? Or, if not 20 years in the future, then what about 50 years in the future? Would you do this to someone you loved more than your own life? Human behavior is illogical, sure. But, can't they see? I just do not understand their thinking, if they actually are thinking, which obviously they are not. We do know and can predict much of what lies ahead. Don't people even care to listen? Why are we so illogical? Why do we always think.... "Things will always turn out well....in the end?" Are you the same? Do you believe all will turn out fine....in the end? Regards, Gamma Note: Tim Lenton, University of Cambridge and Exeter, is one of the foremost researchers on tipping points, and quite a bit more, concerning the impacts of global warming. He does know his stuff.....

February 6, 20242 yr I think you are giving humanity too much credit for forward-thinking. A few shots of tequila is all the optimism that's required to reproduce 😉
