Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
Just explain that pensioners from certain countries are liable to pay taxes on their old-age pensions! There is no tax refund. Why do you always make it so complicated? -

Its too expensive I may leave
Appreciate your take on things but wish to relate my own reality. May not change your take on things but may cause a broader outlook. Paperboy at age 13, went to college on parental help and student (US gov't guaranteed loans (also working for some income. Went into teaching in a US SE state (region lowest paying in the US). Good & rewarding career over 41 years and as a colleague once observed an outstanding resume (Ha! OK, he actually said, I looked good ... on paper). Earned tenure in the public school system (middle and high schools). The last 27 years teaching undergraduate American and European History. Earned each juried academic rank, retiring as an Emeritus Professor of History on a sustainable monthly budget of $2400 use ($1570 of that from earned Social Security). Doo keep in mind SS retirement benefit is determined by the salary you were paid over your working career - SE states, lower salary = lower SS. Oh, it was my choice to teach in the region and, from my background the students benefitted from having an educator from outside the region with international study experience. But the reality is I cannot afford an earned working middle class retirement in the USA and so, here I am in a lower cost country. You understand, I agree with you that the earned SS is to keep the elderly from starving on the streets, but even with earned retirement savings, there is no guarantee of a middle class retirement in many western countries and so ... here we are. -

Transfer visa to UK Passport in London - Timeframe?
Hi there. Can anyone tell me the turnaround time for transferring a non immigrant O visa into a renewed British passport at the Thai embassy in London? I will have my new passport, and my old expired passport with visa ready to present. Is same day possible? Also, do we still need to provide a letter from the British embassy? Apparently I also need to provide a certificate of residence for Thailand? Will I get away with simply showing my pink ID card? I need to apply for a renewal at British passport office in London, and then dash over to the Thai embassy - hopefully in under 24 hours, is that too ambitious? Thanks! -

New fact checks about things Harris has said
I don't know which is worse, actually using wikipedia as a source or hiding the fact that you copied entire passages from wikipedia. Involving wikipedia in any publication that hopes to be respectable is a travesty. But I suspect this sort of thing is even more widespread than people think. In fact, I know it is. About ten years ago, I was given a book to go through and look over prior to publication. It was intended for an academic press--not one in the US, I had better make clear. Anyway, the contributors were all from a highly respected (in its own country) non-US/European university. Passages made no sense whatsoever. So I googled a few sentences and clauses to try and look up the subject so that I could at least understand it better. Every single fragment I googled came from wikipedia. Every contributor had done nothing but cut and paste haphazardly. Our elites are inauthentic fakers to the core. -

Coming to Thailand
That suggestion is almost too idiotic to take it seriously, but I'll bite for the sake of argument. What would have been the benefit of stopping those Covid extensions, for Thailand? Wasn't tourist spending down by enough already in your opinion? I don't think Thailand suffered an uptick in crime due to some foreigners enjoying a prolonged stay during that special time. These foreigners also didn't qualify for any freebies that were to the Thai people's detriment. By and large, they spent money and seemed to have a great time (or at least a better time than they would have had elsewhere). I think the Thai government's timing for phasing out the Covid extensions was perfect. Praise where praise is due. -

Trumps Misinformation and Conspiracy Theories Fuel Threats Against FEMA in North Carolina
So how'za bout they lock up all the Dems who fueled 2-1/2 assassination attempts against a candidate with their vitriolic rhetoric? Or the Dems that incited a whole season of mostly peaceful town burnings with their anti-cop rhetoric? Or do you just want to lock up the ones you don't like?
