webfact Posted February 28 Share Posted February 28 A tragic motorcycle accident claimed the lives of a young man and woman in Chon Buri province today at 5am. A couple encountered a grim omen in the form of a barn owl feasting on a dead dog by the roadside shortly before crashing into a garbage truck and succumbing to their injuries at the scene. Police Deputy Inspector Jaruek Phothong from Phan Thong Police Station, along with the Swang Uthayan Phan Thong rescue team, promptly arrived at the accident site along the Phan Thong-Ban Kao road, in front of Ruamkit Company Limited in Ban Kao sub-district. There, they discovered the lifeless bodies of 24 year old Apisit, who suffered a fractured skull and broken arm, and 22 year old Paweentida, with a broken neck. The accident occurred on their return trip from a visit to Panasnikhom district. The couple’s Honda Scoopy I motorcycle, with the registration number 6คน3238 Bangkok, lay overturned and severely damaged behind the Ban Kao Subdistrict Municipality’s garbage truck, bearing the registration number 86-2673 Chon Buri. The municipal employees, who were collecting trash at the time, were shocked by the sudden crash, reported KhaoSod. Friends of the deceased, referred to as Aek and Bee for anonymity, reported that they were in a group of five returning from Panasnikhom. They had gone ahead of the couple and, upon realising that Apisit and Paweentida had not followed, doubled back to find the tragic scene. They recounted a chilling moment earlier when one of their group spotted a barn owl—a bird often associated with bad omens—eating a dead dog. Following this sighting, Apisit mentioned death, although his exact words were unclear; all that was heard was him repeating the word die.
