Popular Post snoop1130
BANGKOK (NNT) - Puangpet Chunlaiad, Minister attached to the Office of the Prime Minister, presided over a meeting with network partner agencies to integrate work between the public and private sectors in tourism. The meeting reported various tourism-related issues, including problems with taxi drivers harassing and soliciting tourists to purchase goods and services from associated shops. Other topics discussed were the fair collection of fares for both parties, pedestrian and road traffic, and various dimensions of tourist safety. The meeting proposed preliminary measures to solve these issues overall. In terms of traffic, the administration will employ technology, such as AI cameras to detect traffic violations, reorganize sidewalks, and regulate public transport parking. Symbols to alert tourists and service users will be issued, including stickers for tuk-tuk tricycle rickshaws and taxis warning tourists of deceitful solicitations to purchase goods and services, indicating that vehicles with stickers are registered, as are the shops. Integration of efforts among relevant agencies will be pursued to warn, fine, and penalize offenders against tourists. Social measures include campaigns encouraging public participation in monitoring and praising those who contribute positively to society while cautioning wrongdoers. Useful information will be given to tourists once they arrive in Thailand, such as important contact numbers for emergencies, and guides listing friendly, star-rated, and trustworthy shops and services certified by related agencies for tourists. Popular Post OneMoreFarang
No word about enforcing any laws? As far as I know Thailand has a lot of laws, including laws to regulate taxis, laws against fraud, and many more. And it seems most of these laws are most of the time not enforced. It's not that the police don't know what is going on. They know, and they get paid from the offenders to look the other way. And if a farang living in Thailand knows this, then we can be sure that politicians know it as well. So what do they tell us by not talking about law enforcement? They tell us they will talk a lot and maybe add a law or two, and nothing will happen. TiT. 2
Popular Post Middle Aged Grouch
What about the many crooks in real estate who sell houses to foreigners on leasehold and do not deliver the property with the proper quality or safety standards ? No serious legal protection for the foreigner who has put in money. Better thus never to buy in Thailand unless you put in what you do not mind to loose. 2 2

Or do Thais who buy also have the same problems? Lots of foreigners somehow think that if they invest in Thailand all is regulated and enforced just like home. It isn't! It's stupid and naive to spend many millions without knowing what could go wrong.

What does this have to do with tourist's safety? Silly comment anyway. I bought, built and sold for a profit. Lived here 23 years so far rent free. All of my customers, friends and neighbours have also found the same. How about 'Better thus never to buy anything anywhere unless you put in what you do not mind to loose'.

The people who speak in meetings are not the same people who enforce the law. There is no connection between the two. And that sums up the problem. Those at the meetings know that but being in such meetings makes them feel important, when in reality they are impotent. 1

It amazes me, the number of apparently well educated, intelligent people who simply don't do their due diligence when buying in Thailand. I wonder if they are that careless in their home countries. Where big money is involved, trust noone!
