I don't think I've ever supported Galloway before, but on this one I'm  cheering him on. I'm talking about his stance on Gaza. I don't know what else he may have in his bag of tricks to annoy parliament with ( I'm hoping he will be poking a verbal stick in Sunak's eye ). I expect his "maiden speech" is going to be a doozy.

The problem with backing Galloway as an MP on one point, a foreign one at that, is, what's his policy on the Economy? Health?Public services?Taxation?Education?

I don't recall him saying much about any of that in his victory speech, other than backing Rochdale FC.

His comments on domestic issues extended to rejuvenating the local markets and enticing Primark to Rochdale.

He actually handled the accusation of anti-semitism based on those grounds quite deftly in the video from the Oxford Students Union. He said he wouldn't debate South Africans on the issue of apartheid and for the same reason he wouldn't debate Israelis about their treatment of Palestinians.

there is nothing to debate when it comes to apartheidism it is a disgusting  concept, and anyone who supports it  in any way, shape  or form should be ashamed of themselves.

George Galloway is a great man .

There needs to be many more independently minded MP's

shaking things up in parliament.

I think/hope perhaps people are beginning to see that there is very little difference between the policies of the 2 parties that always win

always more tax, more bureaucracy, more convoluted laws, hypocrisy

more censorship and less overall freedoms.

Brexit the Covid debacles (especially),Ukraine, climate change alarmism and now Gaza/Israel have brought that into sharp contrast  at least for me.

George is many things - some of them no good, he is also highly litigious and has two lawsuits initiated in the last week for slurs on his character. So with that in mind those calling him anti-Semitic you can now produce your evidence (being anti-Israel doesn't count) or like the wedding ceremony forever hold your peace. Here he is destroying Sam Coates from Sky, an abject lesson in handing his arris back to him. Whatever else he isn't someone who supports starving a population turning them into hungry animals and then opening fire on the crowds that formed. That takes a special sort of evil and one that the civilized world is looking on in abject horror.

And here is in 16 years ago in that interview with Sky he references in the above video. I can't see him lasting long in Parliament before getting banned, and no doubt the House will empty when he speaks. The greatest orator of his generation, without doubt, love him or loathe him.

You like him even though he is a rancid anti-Semitic? Speaks volumes.

As I say I like what he says, whether you consider him anti-semitic or not. The charge of anti-Semite is levelled at anyone who criticised the inhumane behaviour of Israel. In my book you can legitimately and loudly criticise evil behaviour of the Israelis government and war crimes carried out by the IDF, and not be an anti-semitic.

And Galloway was endorsed by BNP leader Nick Griffin, are you a fan of his too?

No sadly I'm not a fan of Nick Griffin. But ion he endorsed Galloway he made a good call there. Perfectly normal we all make good call and bad calls, except for you of course, Wobbly, who have been right all your life.

Galloway can't be responsible for who endorses him, and besides which Galloway had roundly denounced Nick Griffin as well he should, Sadly the media have amplified Griffin's toxic voice by drawing attention to this - he is an irrelevant nobody these days. Besides which, if we are going down that route, Tommy Robinson has roundly endorsed Israel.

Maybe one day Nick Griffin will endorse you and then your life will be complete knowing you are up there with the likes of Galloway.🥴

It's rare when something like that ever gets onto the MSM - the final 45 seconds are epic. His maiden speech is going to be electric. For George oratory fans, here is he destroying Christopher Hitchens who supported the Iraq War another arse handed onto him on a plate. Electric stuff.

I don't much care about his policies which are socialist and align closely with those of Jeremy Corbyn. I want men of iron who will stand up to the Israeli lobby and highlight this massacre. You know nothing about politics do you? Individual MPs have no choice but to follow the economic policies of their party. George will generally follow for left wing policies and vote against capitalist/imperialist projects. Remember Galloway stood up and yelled about the Iraq war ands he was right....the reason for the war was totally false, and everyone knew it was false. Only one Cabinet Minister resign on his principles, the great,  Robin Cook. And he was right too. Did you support the Iraq war? It is now difficult to find anyone who admits they supported it.

Going off topic to make a rancid anti-Semitic comment is not always a good idea, but we do know what colours you have nailed to the mast.

We love you George because you campaigned for Rochdale with a Palestine flag behind you, 'from the rivers to the sea Galloway pleases me', there's one born every minute.

I certainly hope so. He terrifies the establishment, all those toady gray faced and grey haired people that fill the green benches. I hope George gives them an enema.

He will get quickly marginalised and silenced but he is smart enough to know parliamentary rules, hopefully not to get banned on day 1. Sunak's team will be preparing a  brief attempting to bring him down and war gaming responses. I suspect apart from his maidan speech he will get ignored by the speaker in collusion with the main parties to prevent him speaking in the chamber to anything but an empty House. That's how it works.

Oh I see a Palestine flag is anti-Semitic and here's Likud's founding statement. Galloway would have you for breakfast along with a writ.

Territory. The original 1977 party platform stated that "between the Sea and the Jordan there will only be Israeli sovereignty." The 1999 Likud Party platform emphasized the right of settlement: The Jewish communities in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza are the realization of Zionist values.
