PATTANI (NNT) - Leading the group were the Prime Minister's spouse, Pakpilai Thavisin, and Puangpet Chunlaiad, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office. The visit aimed to contribute to the role of women in generating income for the locals.

Their first stop was at Wat Chang Hai in Khok Pho District. This temple is a historical site that has been a part of the community for over 300 years.

Following their visit, the entourage paid respects and engaged in a Dharma talk with the abbot of the temple. The abbot emphasized the government's and stakeholders' roles in promoting tourism in the southern border provinces, which boast diverse arts, cultures, and lifestyles among a variety of religions and cultures. The abbot highlighted that these qualities are the charm tourists should experience and called for further efforts to enhance security in the region.

The Prime Minister's spouse and the group also purchased many local products as souvenirs for their families.

Reminds me of a Thai Red Cross excursion 1987; they leased an aircraft of Thai Airways (TH) to fly to Chiang Rai to visit HM's mother to hand over some donated aid and flew back the next day. The entire trip incl. leasing the airplane etc. was paid for by the Thai Red Cross.

This, in turn, resulted in me never ever to donate anything anymore to such organizations as it cannot be, that donations are burnt with school excursions of board members and their spouses, families and friends.

Hence I am sure that all participants of this trip to Pattani paid their share of the trip as the Thai taxpayers has no interest in covering such expenses 😉
