Have you ever played with the notion that all of the negativity that seems to surround you is because of You?

Typical response from you.

I expected nothing less.

I think we should have a "lay off Bob day" and cut him some slack but he really needs to meet us half way.

Perhaps 29th February so it's only every 4 years?.…..

I was being benevolent Bob. I find your posts amusing in the most, if occasionally factually incorrect.

You bashed Phuket yesterday, today a restaurant.

All true stories of course.

I thought Phuket was fair game?

I thought it was common knowledge that it was a tourist ghetto?

Am I missing something?

There are a lot of Thai's in the service sector with emotional problems. Low education and not a lot of introspection and self-development. Pair that with living in a small room and low pay and you get many people acting kind of weird.

Never mess with someone who is preparing your food or handling anything that you are eating or drinking.

Bob, you are confused. You were in a Beer Bar not a restaurant.  The only people that don't like it when you can speak Thai are bar girls, they hate that they can't talk amongst themselves about how much money you might have or how awful its going to be with you on top of them.

Today I was at a restaurant for lunch.

I have been frequenting this place for a while,

the waitresses were always very kind to me and I always tipped handsomely.

That was until I met the owner this afternoon.

she came in and smiled at me, and I said hello back to her in Thai.

the smile soon disappeared.

I could then hear her bad mouthing me in the back to her chef and waitresses.

farang pood Thai mai Dee, farang kee nok, all the classic one-liners were coming out…

Then she approached my table and told me if I speak Thai again in her restaurant that I should leave immediately and never come back.

So I obliged.

I paid what I owed (3 beers and a sandwich) said thank you in Thai (which really got her riled up) and left.

This is not an isolated incident, I have had many people over the years tell me that foreigners who can speak Thai are no good, I am just shocked as they seemed like really nice people at first.

bob.

you sure she didn't say "farang pood Thai mai geng" ?

Could be you were hurting her ears.

I always suspected you like to play catcher. At least this whole, otherwise useless thread, has resulted in some clarity on why you complain so much when you don't get properly stuffed.

Unfortunately, the gratuitous Thai bashing that goes on here every day poisons the ability of some to mention a legitimate complaint when they feel it's warranted.
