An 18-year-old transgender woman, formerly known as Joshua Cooper but now identified as Ash Cooper, has been sentenced in connection to the tragic slaying of 12-year-old Morgan Connors in 2022. The sentencing, handed down by Bucks County Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey L. Finley, comes after Cooper pled guilty to charges of third-degree murder, possession of an instrument of crime, and tampering with physical evidence related to Connors' death.

According to the Bucks County District Attorney's Office, Cooper, who was 16 years old at the time of the incident, received a sentence of 15 to 40 years in state prison, along with seven years of probation. Additionally, Judge Finley ordered Cooper to comply with all rules and recommendations of adult probation and parole, undergo psychological and psychiatric evaluations, and follow a path toward redemption.

Paul Lang, Cooper's defense attorney, affirmed that Cooper identifies as female and expressed satisfaction with the sentencing outcome, noting that it spared Cooper from a potential life sentence. Lang emphasized that the plea represents a step in Cooper's journey toward redemption.

The tragic incident unfolded on November 25, 2022, when authorities responded to a 911 call reporting a possible murder at the Top of the Ridge Trailer Park in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Prosecutors revealed that a juvenile witness was engaged in an Instagram video chat with Cooper, who confessed to the killing and displayed the victim's bloodied body. Cooper sought assistance from the acquaintance in cleaning up the scene and disposing of the body.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers apprehended Cooper attempting to flee from the trailer. Inside, they discovered Connors' lifeless body in the bathroom, along with evidence suggesting efforts to sanitize the crime scene. Investigators determined that Cooper had used a firearm from her father's gun safe to perpetrate the crime.

During Cooper's sentencing, Chief Deputy District Attorney Kristin McElroy read an impact statement from the victim's grandfather, describing the profound grief and anguish inflicted by Connors' untimely death.

The sentencing of Ash Cooper underscores the gravity of the crime committed and serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences of senseless violence in communities. As the legal proceedings conclude, the focus now shifts to honoring the memory of Morgan Connors and supporting her grieving loved ones as they navigate the aftermath of this heartbreaking tragedy.

Shocking.

Let's hope he serves his time in a men's prison.

Otherwise, they'll need to add maternity wards and childcare centers to the women's prisons.
