defwill29
I want to have a small cyst removed on my cheekbone, about 2 cm under my eye. Where could I get this done in CM and how much would such a procedure cost? I am looking for a competent doctor since the cyst is in such a visible place.
richard_smith237
I'm guessing you'll need a plastic surgeon more than a dermatologist... But perhaps consult with both. This perhaps gets the ball rolling for you. https://www.bangkokhospital-chiangmai.com/en/expert-doctors/?doctor_name=&all_specialty=¢er=23503&gender=&language= 1
sqwakvfr
Had a cyst removed from my lower back(an easy place for the doctor) at CM Ram two years ago. Total coast was 1,1,000 Baht. Might worth it just go bye CM and ask either at Dermatology Center or at the Main hospital.

A vast % number of cysts have to be surgically removed, to remove the sack the cr@p lives and grows in. They have to remove the entire packet/sack to get rid of it forever, which will always leave some scarring. Poking it forever only makes it worse.

Give over. I had a cyst removed recently at a rural government hospital by junior doctor. Just received a local injection and job done within 30 mins. Can't recall the exact cost but I'd say no more than 300 Baht. Removed the stitches myself it's that easy. Edited April 1 by IvorBiggun2

I highly recommend Dr. Siri Chiewchanvit at Sriphat Medical Center. Incidentally he speaks good English too. I can't tell you how much it would cost, but Sriphat is generally cheaper than Bangkok Hospital.

Would you have a vet do it. Or a shoe shop. I would go to an international hospital to find out and being on my face i would want there head of section do it. Go and ask them and they will tell you how much. If to much for you you only pay 1000 to 1500 baht. But then you will know. Or for cheaper go to government hospital but although the end result can be the same getting to that will be a different experience. 1
TheFishman1
Yeah, I watched an episode of Dr. pimple Popper and she removed. When you have to remove the sack I recommend you go to change my Ram hospital the dermatologist department. There’s a real good lady Doctor Who is trained at the Boston University make an appointment to see her. I’m sure she can take care of it for you. She’s very confident, tell her Mark said hi

Jing Joe
I have removed 2 cysts, a bit closer to my eye than yours. Followed good advice and did this way:- a magnifying makeup mirror taped to the wall mirror, plenty of light, hygenically used needle to make small sideways slit in the thin skin down nearer the bottom of the cyst towards the facial skin. Do it shallow enough to keep away from the cyst sack. This is easier to do down there rather on the top of the cyst where its too easy to puncture it. Need to pull away and neatly break/tear the skin, not too long a slit from entry to exit of the needle. Two? mm long. Depends on its size but must accomodate the exiting cyst. As others have said, dont burst the cyst's sack otherwise will grow again. Encourage it to pop out, maybe not with the sharp point. The sack was tougher than I first thought. If it were to burst, maybe need to give it a few weeks to re-form and try again. ? Dunno. The small tear heals quite quickly. Near the eyes seem a common place for them. I had a ganglion tumour and although I didn't do anyhting about it, I have UP smoking within a week. You never believe you'll die that kind of death, like stupid smokers folks. As for the removal, Ram should do just walk in and ask about it. Thé operation can be scheduled within days. You should be okay as it's a light intervention
thecyclist
I assume that a cyst is the same or somewhat similar to an abscess. I have had two recently .The first one was in the crack of my behind, very painful. went to a local clinic, the doctor opened it up under local anaethesia, cleaned it out for 800 Baht, 5 follow up visits for further cleaning out , each time 180 Baht, antibiotics for a week. The second was on my neck, treated it myself with antibiotics and disinfectants.

Keeps
Sheryl - do you have any personal recommendations for sebaceous cyst removal in the Chiang Mai area? I am looking to have one removed from my lower back. UK NHS won't remove as standard as viewed as 'cosmetic'. It is now becoming uncomfortable when sitting or lying down. Any suggestions appreciated. I have already been in touch with Sriphat Medical centre. They will not give any idea on cost until surgeon/physician seen. I am currently in the UK but looking to get something teed up for my return to Thailand next month. Thank you.

Local anesthetic was only used. In Thailand though they will insist on hospitalisation or to be done in hospital simple for the extra money. It won't be cheap for a foreigner
Sheryl
@defwill29 there are 2 options: a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon. The latter will cost more. The former will tell you if he/she thinks it needs a plastic surgeon (i.e. if they are not able themselves to remove without scarring) so I suggest you start with Prof. Siri as others have recommended https://sriphat.med.cmu.ac.th/en/doctor/detail/122 I believe he also has his own clinic at 119 Moonmuang Road, A Muang, Chiang Mai 50200. Tel: 053 357085 but double check as that info is old Much will depend on how deep it is and whether it is actually a cyst or a lipoma @Keeps suggest you also try Prof. Siri unless the cyst is very large in which case might need a general surgeon.
Jing Joe
Just clarifying.. my two cysts I removed were small and white, rather round, elevated just above the skin/flesh surface, and very slow growing. No big deal at all to remove them. Very thin skin covering them and not too much effort to make that small 2 mm? max rip with the needle which healed quickly. Kept a good standard of hygene. Others here could be referring to deeper type growths? My wife had one similar closer to her eye, was cut out by a specialist who removed a biopsy margin and sent it away, an inconvenient and lengthy healing process, costly and more Baht in his pocket to excise it.
