I lived in Thailand 2 years ago under my marriage visa (1 year period) and applied a single re-entry permit before I leave, but I didn't return to Thailand since then. Me and my Thai wife are planning to visit Thailand again soon. Can I enter the country normally like a regular traveler (My passport can have 30 days visa exempt entry to Thailand) even with my last re-entry permit unused and my marriage visa expired?

Yup, no issue whatever, expired is expired.

You'll get a 30-day visa exempt entry without any bother.

Correct answer above.

How long do you plan to stay in Thailand

BTW: entering visa exempt your airline may require an return/onward flight for check in..
