So this shows when the police actually do their job, they can do something about the carnage on the roads.... But hey-ho now Sonkrans finished they will go back to doing nothing....

They do not report any accident as a death if they die later at the hospital, is what I understand. Only when they are pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Correct me please if that has changed.

I have heard that they do fiddle the deaths details to show a lower number.

I believe that is how stats are recorded.

So if the friendly cop tells the ambulance driver not to report it until they get to the hospital, then it makes them look good? Just wondering.

Our safety program worked perfectly. Source: us.

Exactly....

However...     Even the numbers below look highly suspicious when the national average over the year is about 68 per day (based on WHO estimations in 2020 was 22,428 road deaths per year (and that was a Covid year)

https://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/thailand-road-traffic-accidents

So... even the below mentioned number (linked) is less than than the normal daily average...   (which would otherwise fall at 245 over 4 days).

Thus: Are the reports suggesting the the roads over the 7 deadly days of Songkran are 35% safer ????

As you mentioned Robert - the source and accuracy of the information is highly questionable.
