Residents in Pattaya Express Concerns Over Job Theft and Begging by Illegal Migrants

Recommended Posts

They tend to forget a small detail in Thailand. No foreigner,. no money and most of the major cities and towns will plainly collapse. Please respect the foreigner and the retirees.

Rude and lazy service can be done by migrants also.  Best to outsource it.

Sadly that is probably an accurate  assessment.

Certainly not exclusive to Thailand  given the numerous examples featured in international news over the impact of  foreign  workers , legal or not, taking away employment from local aspirants.

I use the term :aspirant" in place of  "worker" because increasingly  I observe  the self righteousness of presumed  employees who apparently expect to be paid to be "online" and ignore the presence of  "customers" until  challenged  for attention !

Bring on the workers who  understand the function of their employment .... please.

The claimants noted that they often have young children with them, possibly to elicit sympathy from tourists.

The locals of Pattaya are once again appealing to the relevant authorities to address the issue of illegal migrant workers, who they claim are taking jobs away from Thai people and bothering tourists.

This will not be tolerated...

They believe this is unfair to local Thai vendors who abide by the law and pay their taxes.

These "jobs" by women from foreign countries are decades old (flower selling, begging with rent a baby etc.).

Guess they have just forgotten about due to the COVID break.

Good luck with the appeal.

Local people have also raised concerns about unauthorized foreign vendors operating movable carts and trike stalls to sell their wares to tourists. They believe this is unfair to local Thai vendors who abide by the law and pay their taxes.

Maybe these foreign vendors understand English, and what tourists want to buy... Just saying.
