snoop1130
On May 7th, 2024, police in Hat Yai, Songkhla, held a press conference detailing a sizable gun shop theft. They reported they had recovered 37 stolen firearms. The incident came to light on May 5th when local law enforcement, during a routine patrol at 2am, noticed three individuals acting suspiciously. The suspects were seen unloading 15 guns and bullets from a motorbike sidecar on Kukrit Road, Hat Yai. One of the individuals was apprehended. Investigation by the Hat Yai police revealed that the seized weapons were stolen from a large former gun store, as evidence of burglary was found. Per the police report, a group of five men were implicated in the theft - Mr. Atchariya Kraisuwan, 32, Mr. Somsak Khamsathit, 40, Mr. Watcharaporn Chiambut, 32, Mr. Somchai Kaewthong, 34, and Mr. Sobprasong Promdej, 41. They were accused of robbing the gun store between May 4th and May 6th, and made away with 37 weapons, which included six pistols and 31 rifles. The remaining four suspects were found and apprehended by Hat Yai police who managed to retrieve all the stolen firearms. Local news outlets reported that the gang admitted to stealing the weapons to sell them for between 20,000 to 30,000 baht each. The group allegedly used deserted homes as hideouts post-robbery. However, Hat Yai police were successful in apprehending them all and securing the weapons which could have otherwise been used in further criminal activities. mikebell
I once spent a week in Hat (RAT) Yai. I'd lived in UK 62 years and seen ONE rat. My 1st/only visit to this town the rats were sitting under tables in restaurants waiting for left-overs! I was visiting my son who killed fifty+ cockroaches every night we went out. 1

It does seem odd to put it in the 'Pattaya News' section when we have 'Southern Thailand' or a more general 'Thailand News'..... options. 1

I commented merely to question its placement as a curiosity of Asean Now site. It does not warrant your unpleasantness; perhaps that's a symptom of living in Songkhla Hat Yai?

They have reorganized the local forum and Thai news section. Wherever it was it's certainly now in the Southern News section. As for rats in Hat Yai, I seem to recall your comments from many years ago. It jars with me now as it did then. I see no more rats on the streets here than I do in Bangkok or elsewhere in Thailand ditto roaches and I've lived twenty years in Hat Yai.
MarcelV
No more rats in Hat Yai than elsewhere in LoS. Why the bias mikebell?

I've never seen rats 'sitting under the table waiting for scraps' anywhere in Thailand nevermind Hat Yai. Cats under tables, but no rats.
