UN Cuts Death of Women and Children in Gaza by Half

The United Nations made a significant adjustment downwards around 50% to the casualty figures for the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, sparking questions and debates about the accuracy of the data and the methods used to gather it.

Hamas terrorists exaggerating and telling lies?

Who would have thought that.

What 14,000?

14,000 dead Hamas terrorists, I thought that was clear enough in the post. The clue would have been in the "killed" yes?

"14,000 Hamas killed and hundreds of other Gazans killed by their own rockets"

Link to that just for you.

14,000 Hamas fighters have so far been killed. Israel estimated Gaza to have 30,000 fighters before October 7.

How can anyone suggest more that half the deaths being women and children is OK?

, OCHA has recorded 10,006 were Palestinian men, accounting for 40 per cent of the identified fatalities, while 4,959 (20 per cent) were women and 7,797 were children (32 per cent). It also listed 1,924 elderly people among the fatalities, but did not differentiate them by gender.

Well it wouldn't be Hamas (they only admitted to 6000 killed back in Feb) and its obviously not the UN so yes that leaves Israel.

Well for one thing that would mean that virtually all the adult males killed in the war  were Hama soldiers.

How do you work that one out then? Can you provide links for that claim?

I suggest you have no credible sources to factually back up your claims

Its been widely reported that Hams killed 500 Palestinian  Children when they accidently bombed their own hospital in a misfiring rocket

Israel claims 14,000 Hamas soldiers killed.

Here are the revised figures:

"The numbers appeared significantly lower, with 7,797 children among those who have been fully identified, along with 4,959 women and 10,006 men. A separate category was also included for the elderly, representing 1,924 people."

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/gaza-death-toll-ocha-un-confusion-anger-rcna151934

So Israel's number is actually higher than the total number of confirmed male deaths. Higher even if all the elderly were male, which is unlikely, and added in.

Your link and maths do not support your claims

Latest number is around 35,000 killed according to Hamas and your link.

But Israel cl Hoaims 14000 soldiers have been killed. A far larger number than confirmed deaths of males. Are none or vanishingly few of those males civilians? How does that work?

And, how do you know that some of those 14,000 are not in the list that have not been identified yet?

You made a claim and again you just can't back it up.

“The numbers have not dramatically shifted. The overall tally remains unchanged — 35,000,” OCHA spokesperson Jens Laerke said in emailed comments to NBC News on Monday. “What is new is the level of verification ('full details have been documented') for a subset of 24,686 of those fatalities."

Only roughly 10,000 male deaths are verified. Yet Israel claims  14,000. Where do Israel's numbers come from?

To clarify further. If the unidentified dead numbers  break down the way the unidentified have, that would leave room for a very few adult male civilian deaths. That is extremely unlikely.

Always trust Hamas and the UN.

Gunmen, likely #Hamas terrorists, hanging out at an @UNRWA warehouse in eastern #Rafah a few days ago and identified by an @IDF drone. The @UN needs to answer some serious questions. Imagine what would’ve happened if we were to target them? The hypocrisy is astounding.

Are none of the "children" male?

Are none of the "children" combatants?

Are none of the women combatants?

Didn't Israel target them last month

Hasn't that been covered in a separate topic when it actually happened?

I appreciate you'd rather gloss over this:

What were terrorists doing INSIDE an UNRWA logistics compound and alongside UN vehicles?

The UNRWA's logistics warehouse compound in eastern Rafah, is a central point for UNRWA's aid distribution in Gaza.

Terrorists are seen armed inside the compound, alongside UN vehicles and shooting civilians right outside.

Some relief groups hire armed guards, aid officials said, often plain-clothed men who brandish guns or large sticks to beat back hungry Palestinians trying to snatch supplies.

The World Central Kitchen sometimes uses armed guards, the employee said, though it was not clear if they had been employed for the April 1 convoy.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/drone-sights-and-gunmen-on-trucks-how-a-gaza-aid-convoy-turned-into-a-tragedy/

Its more than likely that these food storage centres would be ransacked without armed guards
