It’s really amusing seeing how some westerners are getting their knickers all in a twist about the possibility of NK troops fighting for Russia. On the one hand, they say that NK is the most backward country in the world and that the soldiers will probably defect anyway. On the other hand, 3,000 NK soldiers in Russia and some are calling for NATO no less to send in tens of thousands of troops. Highly entertaining stuff.

Russia bans imports of agro-products from Kazakhstan after refusal to join BRICS

The main question in such a trade is... which currency to use. BRICS suggests that the entire trade will be made in local currencies with the help of mutual clearing centers to balance imports and exports. Outside BRICS Russia must use dollar which can be earned but cannot be spend due to sanctions - so dollars are just useless sheets of paper for Russia. That`s why if Kazakhstan don`t want to join BRICS - that exactly means the entire trade with this country is not profitable for Russia.
So there is no politics here - just buisiness.
