Moscow's Zhukovsky Airport Airport is hit by drones, Whether intentionally or not remains to be seen, as at least one appears to have been brought down by jamming systems in the area.

I guess my none too subtle grammar lesson flew over your head. Never mind.

it seems to me that your facts are derived from only one side of the narrative, Russia bad, west good. Nothing wrong with that if you’re not interested in seeing the whole picture. The Ukrainian commander in chief, I believe, blatantly lied when he said that Russia has not advanced one metre in 6 days. You accepted his statement as fact as that’s what you want to believe but when you look at liveuamap.com (a pro-Ukrainian website I might add) and put in the relevant parameters, you can see for yourself the progress the Russian army made towards Pokrovsk over the days in question.

It is completely understandable that Syrsky would not tell the truth as this would be admitting the failure of the Kursk operation and hasten his promotion as Ambassador to the UK.

Nope, there are only one set of facts in the real world.

Well done Sweden!

Sweden announced the 17th military aid package for Ukraine worth SEK 4.6 billion ($450 million).
This package includes weapons and equipment to increase Ukraine's defense capabilities at sea, on land, and in the air.

We are grateful to our Swedish partners for their unwavering support! Together, we are stronger.

Putin has offered to resume gas supplies to Germany via its one remaining and undestroyed pipeline but of course it is not allowed to do so, so it seems that VW has no choice but to close at least one of its plants.

Yes, I have the hope that in time a more far sighted German government, which actually cares about its own industry and its own people, will take Russia up on its generous offer to keep supplying much needed gas to Germany.

Indeed VW has to undergo a major redundancy wave now, things are not going well in Germany.

Guess you’ve never heard of two sides to a coin or that a glass can be both half empty and half full at the same time.

Yes, one has tails and the other is heads. Can you provide some real world facts in this war that also have opposite facts to counter them?

both are still 500ml in a 1000ml container.

you confuse facts with spin, which explains in part your posts.

No danger of doing that with your posts. All spin.

Of course the drain the billions of handouts to Ukraine have been on Germany, US, UK etc has been far more of a punishment than the effect of santions on Russia.

Disinformation by you.

Reality check indeed:

An influential global body has forecast Russia's economy will grow faster than all of the world's advanced economies, including the US, this year.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects Russia to grow 3.2% this year, significantly more than the UK, France and Germany.

I never said "...that the only a few Western media are owned by their State."

Take it back or be called a liar.

Your definition that ownership determines control is fine.

So to be clear, it is your position that western media that is owned by the state is controlled by the state, and that western media not owned by the state is controlled by whoever owns the media. Correct?

Not tired of useless trolling?

You cited two countries. In these countries, the other media are not controlled by the State.

Being owned by the State is a necessary, but not sufficient condition for being controlled.

The EU, Germany in particular, is not hurting Russia at all economically. All Germany succeeded in doing is hurting itself, its own people and its own industry and economy. Meanwhile the Russian economy is soaring and benefitting from the higher energy prices, its GDP growth outperforming Germany, UK, France, the US.

A clearer example of the difference of wise and farsighted leadership (Russia) compared to moronic, knee jerk, hysteric and counter productive leadership (Germany) is hard to find.

So nations should start a war and kick-start their economies. That's an example of wise and far-sighted leadership!?

The EU's dependence on Russian oil and gas has had a detrimental effect on some member states' economies. Unfortunately, doing the right thing can prove costly. The EU is now diversifying away from Russian gas but, a short-term dependency does still remain.

Hopefully, sanctions on Russia can be tightened and the Russian economy will feel the effects.

No the wisdom was in Putin embarking on years of austerity BEFORE he launched his war to ensure he can ignite the economy when the war comes.

Russia's economic strength is not a result of war, but of the policy of amassing huge cash and asset reserves which Russia is now spending.

To hope a whole nation will suffer economically, is a hatefu, small minded and despicable wish to have, imho.

I pay little heed to figures like inflation and so on, preferring to look at the real day to day situation on the ground. Some of my ex-colleagues who live in Moscow and St.P tells me that prices of essential goods are bearable and not affecting their way of life. On the other hand, my daughters in the UK are constantly complaining about rising costs, even for jammie dodgers which they send to me on a regular basis (maybe they are just trying to squeeze some more money out of me, I wouldn’t put it past them lol).

So the experiences of your ex-colleagues in the two most economically wealthy cities in Russia, and who I imagine are among the +/-10% of the Russian population in terms of wealth(?), are to be considered more reflective of the economic situation on the ground than the official figures? I would think that the majority of Russian citizens - especially those outside of Moscow and St. Petersburg - might have a different

tale to tell.

Re Jammie Dodgers: If price is a consideration, can I suggest switching to one of the many supermarket's own brands. They are considerably cheaper.

Imo a leader which starts an unnecessary war is pure evil and anyone who supports a nation such as this lacks any sort of ethical standards worth mentioning.

Quite true, publicly German is posing as if it ended all purchases of Russian gas and quietly it continues to import Russian LNG via Belgium and Netherlands.

Quite true. However, the share of Russian gas imported by Germany went down from 55% to around 4%, if I remember well.

What's more this shows that Russia has zero ambition to attack Europe, why would it promise to deliver gas to countries it wants to invade.

It's indeed very magnanimous of Putin to offer the much needed gas, despite the vicious, bullying, treacherous way he has been treated by the Europeans.

Putin is a great statesman.

Indeed, Europe cut off its nose to spite its face when it cut back Russian  gas and oil imports. An idiotic policy which only managed to drive up energy bills for German residents, drive up the prices of German products and create general unease about energy security.

But good to see there is a way back from the economic abyss. Once again Russia extends its hand in friendship, hopefully there will be takers  down the line.

At least you are showing your true colours as a Putin fanboy. However, there is an alternative narrative to the image of loveable, hard done by, misunderstood Vlad which you portray.

I sincerely hope the author of this piece is wrong, otherwise Ukraine and, indeed the world, will continue to suffer at the hands of this wanna be imperialist dictator.

According to the Belgium environmental organization  Bond Beter Leefmilieu in 2023 Russian LNG imports grew by 41 per cent in Belgium.

26 percent of German pipeline imports come from Belgium and Netherlands. From Belgium alone the Russian share is about 6 to 11 percent for German pipeline imports.

80 percent of German LNG imports into local LNG terminals now comes from the USA. America had a lot to gain by excluding Russia from the market.

Except the war was not "unncessary" after the West had expanded NATO. For decades Russia had implored the west that expanding NATO beyond Ukraine is a line in the sand. Russia was lied to and deceived. Russia can no more tolerate a pro American nuclear Ukraine as part of NATO than the US could tolerate Russia missiles in Cuba. It's called national security.

Western politicians knew this, and yet pressed on with NATO enlargement regardless. Many cold war warriors warned of the potential consequences.

The war was completely unnecessary as, pre-2014 Ukraine was nowhere close to gaining NATO membership.

Let's not forget that Russia was undermining Ukrainian sovereignty long before it started this war.

The truth of the matter is that Putin refused to accept that the Ukrainian people preferred a future bound to Western Europe rather than Russia, and he has acted in order to try to stop it happening.
