McLaren's Lando Norris expressed excitement for the upcoming Formula 1 season after nearly clinching a victory against Max Verstappen of Red Bull at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Norris finished just 0.7 seconds behind the leader, following his first F1 win at the Miami Grand Prix two weeks earlier. The 24-year-old British driver believes his recent performance demonstrates that McLaren is now a consistent front-runner in the races. “I hope it continues this way because it's exciting. It adds a thrill to every weekend, and I'm eager for the upcoming races,” said Norris. Norris confidently stated that he and McLaren are now strong contenders to consistently challenge Verstappen at various circuits. “We also secured a second place in China, right before winning in Miami. Securing second, first, and second show we're on a good path,” he added. Oscar Piastri, Norris’s teammate, also remarked that their team has the confidence to aim for victories irrespective of the race location. The determining factor of the race was the qualifying round, where Verstappen's slight advantage came from drafting behind Nico Hulkenberg's Haas. This helped him out-qualify Piastri by just 0.074 seconds,

McLaren and Ferrari are both challenging Red Bull for the constructors' championship as they took the first 4 positions at the Monaco GP to close the gap with Red Bull.

Checo needs to score points regularly if Red Bull are going to win the constructors' championship this year. Max would not be able to do it on his own.
