Hi, I'm sure this has been asked a million times before but I'd like some up to date info please about getting an implant done in Bangkok

I usually use Bumrangrad for my dental needs and I've never had any complaints but they are getting ever more expensive. I think it's time to look for a more cost effective solution. I'm not interested in some back street quack operation, I'm sure there's plenty of those but I think I could still find quality dentistry for less than I'm being quoted.

Anyone?

Cheers

You get what you pay for. However reputable medical hospitals don't always do the best dental.

I go to The S Dental in Suanphlu 8. Very near the old immigration office.

They are not cheap, but they are fluent in English and very knowledgeable.

Well IMHO you can avoid BPH.

The implanted bit was good, dental surgeon good, but the guy who made the crown (tooth bit) was an absolute amateur.

Couldn't and then wouldn't make it align.

Should be -- but ended up -_.

All this for 80k.

Check the names of the doctors from Bumrungrad online and find out where else they work. Maybe in other hospital and/or their own clinic. Go there, and pay half, or probably less than half.

I am visiting the private clinic of a dentist who used to work in BNH. They charged for her service more than 6 times of what she received from them.

I use the dental practice at Phayathai Hospital and have done so for the past 6 years.   They are very good and I have had 2 implants done there.   The doctor I use speaks excellent English and the service I receive is first class.   Not cheap, but bear in mind the brand of implant.   I had an implant done in Bangkok previously at a dental office and had to get it replaced, hence I went to Phayathai recommended by a friend.   They use American implants, known to be the best.   I highly recommend them.

I'm struggling with the same issue. How long do implants last anyway? I know 2 people who have had theirs' removed (very painfully).

My own dentist is pressing me to restore my bite on one side where I had an extraction, but I had a second opinion, who advised against it because the bone is thin. My dentist said "Oh don't worry I'll use a shorter implant"......what????? Isn't this going to wiggle out of the bone when I eat??????

My dentist is nice looking, but very young, and I wonder if she has the real world experience and has done many implants by herself...."hundreds" she told me....but I am a bit doubtful and looking for an old hag who really might have done hundreds of implants.

I assume when you say the bone is thin that you've had some bone loss.  I also had a similar situation with a back tooth (missing) that needed an implant.  The dentist did a bone graph and implant at the same time.  The wait time to complete to install the crown will be longer (in my case 8 months) due to the graph needing time to bond.

What did you pay for the bone graft?

Indeed, had to get a tooth pulled there and asked what the cost of replacing it would be, 150000 plus minus was the answer. I have an appointment at Smile Signature EmQuartier now, but I'll only proceed if it as a plain vanilla, no bone graft case. I am 71 with 30 teeth right now.

I’ve had two good implants done at the St.Louis Hospital Dental Clinic.  They are still chewing strong after a couple of years.  They used to cost about 70,000 each a few years ago but may have gone up.  They have been absolutely trouble-free.  The dentists are amicable but have busy schedules.  All of their equipment is now hnew since they moved to the newly remodeled 23rd floor.  There are many competent dentists in Bangkok but friendliness is important in my estimation.  Good luck with whomever you choose.

I'm in the beginning phase of an extraction, bone graph, implant process. I'm using Thantakit in Bangkok. So far they have exceeded my expectation in every way...in terms of quality of work, Customer Service and honesty and integrity.

Answer to the question please. How much does it cost an implant or teeth extraction in Bangkok?

In Greece/Athens I paid my dentist €50 for an implant and teeth extraction.

Got a free extraction and two free implants in Thailand, both still going strong.

We criticize medical issues from "neutral" position and medical science have many specific procedures and many patient΄s issues.

Unless Thailand is reformed from general tourism destination to "medical destination" and this is a flaw and an issue for the  already health tourists.

it would be better for Thai tourism to be modernized with better tourism services than to develop from an already mature tourism industry into a medical service industry.

Escort girls are better than "medical girls" because if you join escort girls you "sleep" healthy and you wake up .....healthier but with medics you dont know if you will be alive "tomorrow".

I know you said Bangkok but I needed many root canal, implants and crowns. I first had work done 7 years ago in Mumbai India. Top of the line implants $400 Au 15 year warranty cheaper ones $200 Au 7 year warranty. .same for crowns

You can chat to them on WhatsApp or message on their homepage

Great dentists, modern surgery, speaks english.  www.signaturesmiles.in

Not worth going for just one or two implants.

I had an implant done at Bangkok Phuket Hospital 15 years ago, was 65000 baht then. Still going strong.

Dentistry is one of the biggest rip-offs in the country. The prices they charge are way beyond the means of most people in the society, and totally out of whack compared to the average salary of most workers. How in heaven's name can they justify asking 50,000 Baht and more for a simple implant or 8-10,000 for a crown. While living in Manila a few years back, I had a Filipino friend who manufactured crowns for American dentists and sold them for $10 and shipped to the US. I recently got a quote on some dental work and made the comment that it was way too expensive. The standard response is " but I spent a lot of money and time to learn how to do this business, plus it's cheaper than the dentists in the US. I told her I had no desire to pay for her education....just charge me a fair price for the work you do for me. I got the usual smirk combined with a fake smile and walked out. Absolutely outrageous! No wonder there are so many people walking around with only half their teeth in their skull.

Dentistry seems expensive globally . The UK is a prime example . I paid 130 pounds 2 years ago for 1 extraction . Today UK people are pulling out their own teeth using pliers because there are no NHS dentists available and going private is very expensive .

Some Thai dentists , away from the big cities , are very reasonable ( 40k for 1 implant + the crown at 10K ) . India is known to be much cheaper , even factoring in the flight and hotel .

I would have to agree on this.... it is a dental hospital.. My daughter fell while running and shoved the tooth that was cracked up into the bone. They gave very good service but it was not easy to find doctors that spoke fluent english. broken english at best. The prices though would depend on how you went about it. They have experienced doctors teaching students. You can join their study group and become a patient that is used for teaching. You won't have students doing the actual work but instead they observe and learn what their teachers do. Or you can pay a little more and just see the doctors themselves.

If that's the case you should go back and get it done again. It might not have been the dental technician. Any tooth would have been made to match the teeth on the scan/impression. Many dentists spend their whole life taking <deleted> impressions. It's an 'end job' for a dentist after spending time doing the implant prep. They often rush it to move on to the next patient.

No problem on the prep. Done by a decent dental surgeon.  Problem was with the dentist doing the crown on the implanted bit.  Don't know who made the crown, but the clown of dentist either made a poor impression or the lab in the back room made a bad tooth.

Multiple visits resulted in a waste of time as he kept fooling with it when a do over was called for.  I gave up.

BPH dental seemed to be under a push for profit effort by management and lots of unnecessary stuff done.  Like dental xrays on a minor child without parental permission, while parents were in waiting room.

Now on my "NO" list and subject to my honest story telling (not a review) to interested parties.

The reason implants cost so much is. the imported technology and parts to do them. That's what I've been told.

I was quoted 66,500bht, which included a bone graft (if I needed it) at Edelweiss on Sukhumvit yesterday. That's the cheaper Korean implant and crown they also have a US and Swiss (the most expensive)

I think you'll find that anywhere in the world skilled work will cost. An implant is not the only solution, dentures are far cheaper and probably what most Thais go for

That I quoted was in Surin , Issan . 25k baht seems very cheap in comparison to  other Thai prices . Do you have a link to the Hua Hin dentists please ?

Most of the implant appliances are imported and represent a significant portion of the total cost, particularly the top brands. There is a Korean brand and I think now a Thai brand than are much cheaper.

A lot....at the Mahidol University dental hospital, the queue is at least 3 months long for implants. I've had 2 done there, about 60K each. People with money do this kind or work. The queue is so long its not even practical to get root canals done there, as multiple visits are needed. Being toothless makes one look poor lol
