You honestly believe Ralf is in Thailand?

He will forget in a few posts later and say he is in Isaan

He is in a nursing home in Canada !

But let him dream on !

Am sure the moderators can see IP addresses of the forum members, hopefully one will reply and confirm my location.

But for your info georgieboy, Iam a working expat, living and working in Chonburi, A long ways from a nursing home in Canada !

Presumably a VPN could have you anywhere in the world even Thailand?

Yeah best you go home. You clearly dont like sun sea swimming whatsoever so on that basis I wouldnt drop anchor in Pattaya either if I didnt

As it is I love it and after 32 years havent caught any diseases or skin cancer just yet

You clearly want to find fault so why stay. Am sure the Maldives will welcome you with open arms

Whats wrong with finding fault with the points you made.

Why so defensive?

I like cities more than beach areas. So an easy solution.

Mainly though its the tourists and expats in pattaya i'm not thrilled about. Plus their age range.

And how is the weather in Dublin today?

Just kidding. It's a Thai IP.

Mind you, proxies exist. 😉

Thanks for confirming my IP is Thai.

FWIW I do not use a proxy... reviewing my posting history will confirm this.

but it's easy to change IP by using a VPN so checking your IP proves little

Iam in Thailand, A moderator confirms my IP is a Thai one so little more to discuss as far as iam concerned.

so jog along precious.

Ohh look... even the time on my PC is current Thailand time.

You will need to ignore or learn to like the complaining.

Just part of the wallpaper. Don't even notice them as I pass by bar areas on my way to somewhere else. I don't sit at bars and listen to any blather. That would be boring and time-wasting.

It will be more difficult to remain positive the longer you are here.

Nonsense. Been here more than 20 years now, still enjoy the place and my life.

I can feel it effecting you even now.

Funny. But come to think of it, maybe it's your Third Eye that tells you the barflies are miserable when in fact they're just enjoying themselves. Self-medication is one of our accepted, orthodox, common practices.

The happiness is being slowly chipped away with each complaining post you read.

I very much enjoy having a good laugh at the expense of our bigots and whinging grannies clutching their pearls. It's also fun to tweak our know-it-all Brit royalty. Good entertainment, been so since the forum started up in 2003 or so.

Now amid the constant bashing that gives life meaning for our posters and affirms their superiority over Thais, we don't have as much doom-sayin' and dire prophecies to laugh at as we once did.

It may be that their absurdity has become all too obvious. Yet none of the old prophecies has expired. One our greatest Economists, still posting, is waiting for the bankruptcy of Central Festival predicted in 2009. And we must have an ace Engineer, who didn't yet jump from a balcony on Soi Buakhao, hoping every rainy season for The Tunnel finally to flood.

You're just able to ignore what you don't like is my guess. Like you say, wallpaper. I believe you, really.

I can't do that. The negatives become an irritant to me, even when I don't engage with them directly. Just being in proximity bothers me and I do notice it as I pass by and I feel the energy from it and it's draining.

Kind of like guy from India watch sellers, some guys just tune them out completely, other guys naturally respond on some level and it irritates them, other guys actually like the dudes and buy a watch. I think you are the former type of guy.

A good lesson for people considering Pattaya, know thyself!

Im going for walks, I'm going for massage, I'm sitting by the pool ,I'm going to the gym ....

I don't like to drink or bars

Could I live like this if I retired ?

No thanks

You know how depressed I would be  sitting in a dark 21sqm room in the view talay?

Perhaps they are going for walks, massage, pool and gym when you are. But if you are confirming that they sit there and drink all day by you watching them all day, then you are more boring than them, surely? Personally couldn't do Pattaya and that life, or mop hospital floors all day for that matter lol, but hey each to their own right.

What is Ranong like? I'm looking for something similar to Hua Hin.

Rayong is nice, trip to Mae Ram Phueng Beach just outside Ban Phe, lots of accomodation. Like Pattaya 30+ years ago

You're just too into this. Like, "take that, floor-mopper". You're like a trekkie learning Klingon.

Please, have some basic self respect.

Of all those towns, I give Trat the nod.

Some old teak left standing. There's a place you can eat crabs out in the sticks. Plus, the ferry nearby to the islands.

80 years old. Living in a state housing. Expert on Brazil. Specialist where gay people should retire. Professional in one word summaries. What an interesting combination. 🤔

OMG, thank goodness for needs mopped, right? Who would ever want to go to that awful place Pattaya on the sea with nice hotels, restaurants, big malls, girls, bars, weed shops, etc. I mean who wouldn’t rather mop dirty floors for hours upon end instead? Oh, wait, I got a better idea, let’s get on the filthy Manila Metro late at night and pace up and down the subway cars like a nutter. Even more fun, right???

TBH, this whole topic should be shuttered. The git who wrote the OP considers mopping floors all day in a mental institution back in Oz to be more fun than being in Pattaya. Or, to put it another way, he thinks trolling thugs during a night patrol inside the Manila subway system is the definition of a fun night out. I mean, seriously, why would his opinion of Pattaya be relevant or useful to any sane person?

My very first trip in North Sea offshore on an oil rig, I was cleaning every deck from top to bottom with an high pressure washer and I loved it 😄

Call it crazy, but it was the start of something great 😉
