Hello, I'm hoping to get a Visitor's Visa for my thai girlfriend for the end of October. I am have looked around the site and have found some great advice. There are however a few things i would like to know.

-what should the invitation letter look like and is it expected to be quite formal?

- How much money in an account would be deemed sufficient?

- if you have your own property, would evidence from your mortgage company be sufficient?

- I read that its best to imply that she will only be staying 3 weeks or a similarly short space of time rather than the 3 months the visa allows. After submitting the itinerary, and if all goes well with the application, would you then purchase the ticket that will allow her stay the full length of time.

- will the fact that she has a 4 year old child to return to be looked on as positive or negative. She is separated from the American father, but he still provides for the child financially. The child will be staying with her grandmother for the duration of the visit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

- Can the documents and forms be posted to the consulate, or is it necesary to to deliver it in person?

www.inis.gov.ie has all the info you need.

Will her child be coming to Ireland? If so, you may need a letter from the Father confirming that he agrees.

You can apply for 3 months and use the 3 months.

My thai gf is here in Ireland for 2 months already on a 3 month visa.

Didnt really have any problems getting the visa but we completed as much paperwork as possible. definitely helps if she has property in Thailand. What they really want is proof that after the visa is up that she will return to Thailand. Therefore, a job, house etc in Thaialnd is a good thing! - and maybe if her child stays in Thailand it would help to prove that she will return.

Best of luck
