Crime Gunman Fires Shots into the Air and Takes Hostage in Bangkok
UPDATE Elite Police Prepare Rubber Bullets and Tear Gas to Subdue Armed Suspect in Bangkok Standoff Picture courtesy of Khaosod. Police have escalated their response to an ongoing standoff in Bangkok’s Noi district, with the elite Arintharat special operations unit preparing to use rubber bullets and tear gas to subdue an armed man who has been resisting negotiations for over eight hours. The suspect, identified as Natthawat, also known as “Tae Wat Yang”, has been barricaded in a residential area behind Wat Lakhon Tham since early morning, reportedly firing shots and acting erratically. Despite hours of negotiation involving police, family members, and a Buddhist monk, efforts to resolve the situation peacefully have thus far failed. At approximately 17:00, authorities deployed additional officers to the scene and prepared crowd control equipment, including non-lethal ammunition and tear gas launchers, should tactical intervention become necessary. The area has been completely sealed off, with police urging the public to stay away for their own safety. The atmosphere remains tense as officers reinforce security around the perimeter and prepare for all possible outcomes. Authorities continue to prioritise negotiation but have indicated that decisive action will be taken if the suspect poses an imminent threat to officers or civilians. Residents have been evacuated from nearby homes, and emergency response teams are on standby. Police have promised to provide updates as the situation develops. The integration of English translations means effortless navigation through diverse menus. Foreign users have been flocking to Line Man, particularly in hotspots like Bangkok, Chon Buri, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Surat Thani, where the app has seen a fourfold increase in its foreign customer base in early 2025. Among the favourite dishes are khao mun gai (chicken rice), khao kha moo (braised pork leg), and spicy papaya salad som tum, each offering a rich taste of Thailand's culinary diversity. As Line Man expands its reach, the company anticipates a 20% growth this year, supported by investing 10 billion baht over five years to boost technology and market presence. The focus on generative AI aims to enhance customer experiences and optimise delivery, tailoring personalised recommendations and efficient service. Line Man is available on the App Store and Google Play in select regions, excluding Europe, inviting users to switch their store region to Thailand to download and use the app. With these advancements, expats and tourists can seamlessly enjoy Thai cuisine, while helping restaurants extend their reach to an ever-expanding foreign clientele, bolstering Thailand's food delivery market. Is Now the Time to Go All-In on Silver—or Stick with Gold?
Gold and Silver have corrected "nicely". Recent lows must hold, otherwise one can not qualify the recent downturn as a thechnical correction anymore, rather a change of trend. Easily taking both metals down another 10% or more. Silver is special. A store of value as well as an Industrial Metal. Inevitably, one must also keep an eye on what other Industrial Metals are doing. That does not make future price predictions any easier. Silver peaks of the past have always been in connection with "market manipulation" in one form or the other. (Cornering the market). "All-in" on Silver right now? Why not. But one must be aware that one is riding on the back of a Tiger.
