I fairly recently discovered Dante's long lost 10th circle of Hell - the transit procedure at Mumbai airport!

The final "icing on a cake" was when I drained a glass of beer in the bar at the transit lounge and saw the state of the bottom of the glass - sure enough two hours later Gandhi's revenge set in!

I just want to warn everybody !!! Flights and transfer desk !!! if you fy with same airline or alliance ist ok , BUt!!!! you cant fly for example THai  to india and after Indigo  ...!!!! i see many people denied boarding !!!!!

yes india is a driety country, but airports are improving, its in mumbai not so bad now ..the good thing 1,5ltr water take to airpland is 1,50$  or a meal chinese or so 5$ ,  indiian is cheaper but i not eat. cheap airport  for food and drink

It is certainly possible to change flights in India (at New Delhi anyway) without an Indian visa. As in most international airports there is a "Transfer" line that you follow. I've done it twice this year.

However  India being India, while you do not go through Immigration or need an Indian visa ,  you do have to go through a byzantine labyrinth in which you must present your passport and boarding passes several times to get into the departure area. And  India being India,   they might well kick up a fuss about a small tear.

Yes, pretty good airport at New Delhi, and Mumbai, although I haven't been through there in a while. Its just they are run by Indians who seen to enjoy making hard work of things.

Addis Ababa is fun as well.  My ticket from BKK had the correct departure gate in Addis Ababa but they had the wrong one in their departure board.

Thai immigration officer tore my passport decades ago. I was a greenie coming in and left the departure card stapled to pp inside page. The IO yanked it out and tore the page. The tear was a few cm. I carefully patched it up and never had an issue. That was also when I was heavily traveling and went thru many immigration points. No problems.

I used to take a bit of pride in how tattered my pps became. The one with 96 pages the front of the document the US seal barely visible.
