That's correct, i've got a pic up truck but only 3 brakes have been working for many years, right rear doesnt work at all due to leakage from the rear axle, no big deal although i'm only doing 60 on the roads and I don't use it more than once a month. -

Schengen Visa Question
Bit confused about Spain, thought you said you were planning Italy. I did the first Schengen visa at that VFS office, only problem was that the girl behind the desk couldn't find Tenerife on a map of Spain. It looks like Spain ditched VFS and are using another VAC from anothe company cald BLS. Never heard of them but a quick Google shows the checklist here https://thailand.blsspainvisa.com/assets/pdf/Checklist-Tourism-Family.pdf Items 9 & 12 refer to sponsor. -

Must Read Its Happening - Law to Tax Overseas Income Now in Progress
I come from a country that has a DTA with Thailand. My embassy emailed everyone registered that if the tax rate in Thailand is higher than the tax rate applied in my home country, that you will need to pay the difference. They didn't say that if the Thai tax rate was lower, I would get a partial refund 😅 -

5 year multiple entry DTV visa (Destination Thailand) from 2024-xx-xx
Evisa application asks for flight in date, point of entry, flight number, date of exit and address in Thailand but no proof for any of these. I guess the embassy could follow-up and ask for bookings but they didn’t with my application -

Reckon they'll honor the DTAs, so leaves only my company pension, a pittance, and goes to my brokerage account, which I'm not sure they'll have access to, and only $4284 a year @ $1 / ฿33 = ฿141,372, leaves -0- taxable after allowances One visit to a hospital in USA would negate 20 years of any 'tax savings' for a Yank, if I lived that much longer The couple procedures I've had done here cost less than the 4 years or Medicare Plan B premiums, ~$8,000 I would have paid already Matter fact, make that all my medical expenses I've had the past 24 years of being here, cost <$8,000 -

Anyone tried Thai Sumigran sumatriptan/Imigran/Imitrex? 1/10 the price...hmm
When I was in the US I used to take Axert ( al long half life that kicked Imitrex's butt). When I retired I moved to Thailand and my migraines more or less disappeared. I sed to figure at least one a week while I worked. I still always keep some Relpax handy (2 pills for 250baht) but I bet I don't take more than 2 pills a year. I think the stress of the job, hundreds of long haul flights, time changes, poor sleeping, stupid deadlines, presentations to hundreds (or thousands) of people.....fortunately I was able to retire early at 54. -

Drug-Crazed Man Dies After Being Beaten by Mob Following Tractor Theft in Bangkok
UPDATE Tragic Death of Farmer in Bangkok: No Lynching Involved, Police Clarify Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A farmer from Chachoengsao driving an agricultural vehicle into Bangkok to see his family died under suspicious circumstances after a police chase on September 7, raising questions about the cause of his death. Initial rumors suggested that the man had been lynched, but police have denied these claims. The incident occurred late at night when local residents and police officers from Pathumwan district attempted to stop a man identified as Banchachai, who appeared to be intoxicated and driving recklessly in an "e-tak," a four-wheeled agricultural vehicle. The man had collided with several civilian vehicles in the Pathumwan and Huamark areas. As police attempted to control the situation, the man collapsed and was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Pathumwan police officers report that they fired at the tyres of the vehicle in an attempt to stop it. When they apprehended Banchachai, they found no personal identification but discovered methamphetamine pills and a bag of crystal meth, along with drug paraphernalia. He lost consciousness shortly after his arrest and passed away while en route to the hospital. The exact cause of death remains under investigation. Despite speculation of lynching, rescue workers who were on the scene reported no signs of physical assault on the deceased. Pol. Col. Pornthawee Somwong, the Huamark police chief, confirmed that the man was not a theft suspect and had driven from Chachoengsao to visit family in Bangkok. He also stated that there was no evidence of mob violence during the arrest, and the case is still under review, with CCTV footage being analyzed and witnesses questioned. Authorities are also awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death. Banchachai's family revealed that he had driven the vehicle from Bang Nam Priao district, Chachoengsao, to visit his wife and children in Huamark. The family collected his body from the Police General Hospital’s forensic unit and held a funeral in accordance with Islamic traditions in Bang Nam Priao. Last Time Refused Entry Retry Monday
I wouldn't be too sure that an 'unmarked' entry refusal goes in the database. Otherwise it would show on (for example) the CNX immigration officers computer. From what I understand from this forum is that many who were declined entry at DMK or HKT and didn't have any notation placed in their passport, easily entered via CNX. -

I should think just that one bar, and I agree with your reaction. However, one could always just give a name and number - doesn't have to be accurate. When the owner realises that, I imagine he'll drop the idea. As an aside, the waitresses in the Sports Hub on Soi Bukau were asking for customer's names to write on bills back in March this year. They were then confirming when you asked for the bill to pay. That particular bar was crowded and is, IMO, very well run. -

Well it’s the day after the night before and I’ve just had a read through the usual Nasty TV crowds opinion on me following the rules. I’ve learned there’s no point responding to these types. Funny how you never get anyone speak like this to your face I’ve done nothing wrong. Why other members think I have is beyond me. Apart from the alternative of getting a 6months visa I can’t see what lines I’ve transgressed, in fact I’ve paid 2000 baht a go for visa extensions multiple times with indication that I was not following the rules. -

That's wrong. The ERM was very much related to fundamentals like inflation. Whilst under Lawson the British had shadowed the Deutschmark as an indicator to inflation, John Major's decision to join ERM was precisely to formalise this with the aim of keeping inflation down. "In 1989, the UK had inflation three times the rate of Germany, higher interest rates at 15%, and much lower labour productivity than France and Germany, which indicated the UK's different economic state in comparison to other ERM countries". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Wednesday That was the whole reason why the high interest rates the Bundesbank set for the ERM were not suitable for the UK, or Italy, at the time. However, due to national prestige, the Brits could not admit they made a mistake and their economy was to weak to keep pace with Germany, so their ability to adjust interet rates was inhibited. George Soros understood that the Brits had made a mistake by bringing the pound into the ERM at too high a rate, that inflation was too high in the UK at triple the German rate and the UK interst rates were hurting UK asset prices. The Italians had solved the problem by devaluing the Lira, however, the British thought this would cause further inflation for the pound, if it were devalued, which was correct. The remarks by the Bundesbank that there would have to be further devaluations set off a selling spree of the pound. The Brits tried to prop it up with buying interventions but did not succeed. They then raised the interest rate to tempt buyers to buy the pound, that too did not work. So ultimately Britain had to leave the ERM which is what Soros understood to be the most likely outcome and he made billions on this bet. As you can see, the ERM was highly related to inflation, and understanding all the fundamentals around the situation of the pound allowed Soros to make this bet. He had an edge. This is what truly successful traders try to do, to understand fundamentals in a way that allows them to predict what will happen. They then place trades based on that plan. They hold those trades for a long time. They are not day traders.
