After my TGF slipped on the non-slip bathroom tiles, I bought some heavy duty mats for both of us.

I did my front door step a while back with those strips of sandpaper like tape... can't believe front door steps are made of regular tiles here. Mrs  said something about keeping snakes out!

72-year-old Pornchai was rescued from his bathroom

Reminded me of this childhood rhyme (slightly adjusted!)

“Oh dear, what can the matter be?
One old man got locked in the lavatory,
He was there from Monday to Saturday
nobody knew he was there?”

Get well soon Mister Pornchai.

One of the best things I did when my old mum came to live with us here was to put handrails and nonslip mats in the shower rooms and at strategic points around the house.  Now at ninety, I'm glad I did. The balance can be a bit dodgy as you get older.

Something similar happened to a friend of the family. A bookcase fell on her and she was trapped there for several days. Just by coincidence her son called and had someone visit the house when she did not answer. They found her there still under the bookcase. She survived but was never the same mentally due to the stress of the incident or dehydration.

Over the past few years, several well-known members of south-east Asian forums have died after slipping in the bathroom and hitting their head. They were not elderly.....

Knowing of these accidents, I always hold onto a firm surface when using the shower etc.  I don't want to become one of those statistics.
