Personally I will be relieved if they replace all the loud mouthed Americans.

Give me a petite Chinese girl over a plus sized American Karen any day.
They are so annoying.

Or their husbands who can’t hold together a conversation without it turning political.

What about you? Are you leaving?

I'm not in Phuket, not an issue for me.

I am OK with the Chinese taking over, even more than they have already taken over, during the past centuries.

I prefer Chinese women with at least a PhD,

From some Ivy League university.

There are a few nice Chinese women here, already.

I have not yet met them, but I interact with them via the internet.

I prefer the ones who don't speak English.

And, it's not so easy to find a Harvard grad who speaks only limited English.

But, it's not so hard, either.

You speak fluent Mandarin? Respect!  🙏

So let's go through it - Americans take on our world:

Russophobia
Chinaphobia
Indiaphobia
Vietnamphobia

Why not just say worldphobia?

First began learning spoken and written Chinese (Mandarin of course) in 1972.

Others, at the time, were choosing German for their uni language requirement.

Intensive Chinese course:  9 hours per week, on top of one's other course load.

It was fun.

We learned over 2500 Chinese characters, ideographs, the first two semesters.

This felt a bit challenging, at the time.

I have also had fun with Chinese Studies at a uni in China, in more recent times.

I enjoy the language.

I enjoy interacting with Chinese people, too.

So, I do not fear the Chinese.

Kudos 🙏

Lovely people generally, not so much their overlords. Dont let the politics get in the way. There's good people everywhere, sit and eat with em like Tony Bourdain did.

In the Thailand context what I notice is - both here in south Surin and in Bangers - the skilled people you deal with (whether technical matters around the house, or medical or legal or other) - are disproportionately Thai Chinese and speaking good - often very good - English.

And - particularly those around the house - they do a good job and don't cheat you. My b/f says: Always get Thai Chinese if you can.

(He also says I remind him of Thai Chinese - always worrying about money. 🤓 )

Perfect example: Sihanoukville, Cambodia. They ran it down in a big wave for a few yrs and now it's a shell of its former self.

Or, if we're going to focus on nightlife and a different demographic/nationality, Angeles City, Philippines and the Korean takeover (although it could be argued their bar lineups are wayyyyy better, if a little more pricey, than the scarecrows now seen in the "Western" bars.)

Personally, I don't mind the young new gen Chinese tourists and unlike too many of their Brit/Aussie/etc. counterparts, generally not obnoxious agro pissheads.

How does this equate to “limited English”:

“A strong knowledge of English is essential for successful study at Harvard, including the ability to understand and express thoughts quickly and clearly.”

Your ludicrous postings are getting worse

The problem with the Chinese and the Russians is that they travel in swarms. i was on a boat tour recently with 6 Russians crowded close by. Loud, never stopped talking, for one hour nonstop. One young guy blew his snotty nose inches away. No forking manners. Hate em.

yes ,   I totally agree ... the days of people having manners are long gone.

Yes.

Or just marry them.

As I eventually did.

I cannot help it if you don't understand simple English.

I stated this:

a. It's not easy to find a Harvard student who speaks only limited English (true)

b. I like Chinese girls who have a PhD from Harvard.

c. It's also not difficult to find Chinese students who speak only limited English, at Harvard. (You need to know where to look.  You need to catch them when they have just matriculated, and you need to look in the extracurricular ESL classes/programs.)

Do you need FURTHER CLARIFICATION, or do you find this comprehensible enough, for you, as is?

You contradict yourself.  Stay locked in your room with your  fantasies about Chinese PhD’s.

OK.

My brother-in-law, Chinese, has a PhD in Computer Engineering.

Thesis advisor was a Nobel Laureate.

Of course: He also graduated from The University of Pennsylvania.

And here you are fantasizing about Chinese PhD’s from Harvard and boring us with your tales about life in China.  If China was so good, why did you leave?  English teaching contract ended?  By the way, Harvard Univerity does not have an ESL program.  Conversational English is offered through an extension program and students are NOT matriculated at Harvard

Simple...

I failed to see eye-to-eye with Xi.

What you failed to account for is that most universities offer their grad students and research students from around the world ESL assistance which is provided by native-English teachers at these schools.

Also, even for BA students, they first matriculate, and then are offered ESL assistance.

You see?  Little minds, such as yours, know very little, comparatively...I would say....

Why don’t you ask the person who wrote it?  Why are you bothering me with this nonsense?  FYI, you should write, “Is the the correct way to write”, not “is this the correct way to spell”.  No need to thank me for the English lesson, I like to help those who are less fortunate

So what did you do in China?  You keep spouting nonsense about your intellectual pursuits and yet here you are living in self exile in Thailand because you did not like the politics of Xi. Why aren’t you at Harvard dealing the Chinese doctoral students?  Maybe your brother in law will give you the airfare.   Do this site a favor and stop bothering people with your nonsense.  Looking at at the insulting responses to your posts, why do you subject yourself to this?  Masochist, or a beaten dog who will take any kind of attention?
