Playing bridge isn't illegal, or wrong, in Thailand.

Try researching before posting: a group of retired OAP's were arrested in Pattaya for playing Bridge some years ago. The shakedown went pear-shaped when a good old girl refused to pay!!!

You should "try researching before posting:"; that group were arrested because it was thought that they were gambling on the games, not just innocently playing bridge.Β  It went pear-shaped when the police/authoritites discovered that they were not gambling and they were eventually released.Β  Playing bridge is not illegal.

Police said they raided the bridge club after its anti-corruption centre received a tip-off.

The members had broken a 1935 law, the Playing Cards Act, which prohibits individuals from possessing more than 120 playing cards, Pattaya One said.

Sparse information has been shared by Swedish media about a Swedish man who last week – end of July – was arrested in Thailand for β€œserious crime”.

Β

How dare he post a negative hotel review!

Fine, jail, deport!

I was asked by a hotel to remove a post I put, about their wi-fi in the rooms, so I did, I went back there a few months later, and it was worse.....:post-4641-1156694572:

Norran.se does, however, mention that according to the Thai police, the Swede was caught in the act β€œred handed”.''

A red handed swede sounds more like a turnip, or perhaps even a beetroot.Β

A lot of old expats were arrested a few years ago for playing bridge.

Β

That was for playing with cards that did not have the required government tax stamp on them.Β
