Free speech as long as it doesn't upset Musk....mmmm?

Since Elon Musk took over Twitter (now rebranded as X), several high-profile individuals and accounts have been banned. Here are some notable examples:

### 1. **Kathy Griffin**
   - **Reason:** Griffin was banned after she changed her profile name to "Elon Musk" and used his profile picture as part of a satire. Musk indicated that she was banned for impersonating him without clearly labeling it as parody, which violated the platform’s rules against impersonation.

### 2. **Ye (formerly Kanye West)**
   - **Reason:** Ye was banned for posting offensive and antisemitic content, including an image that combined a swastika with the Star of David. This incident followed a series of increasingly controversial tweets from Ye, leading to the ban under Musk's ownership.

### 3. **@ElonJet**
   - **Reason:** This account, run by college student Jack Sweeney, tracked the location of Elon Musk's private jet using publicly available flight data. Musk banned the account citing concerns about personal safety and privacy, although he had previously stated he would allow it to remain active in the name of free speech.

### 4. **Journalists (Various)**
   - **Reason:** In December 2022, several journalists from outlets like CNN, The New York Times, and The Washington Post were suspended. Musk claimed the suspensions were due to these journalists allegedly sharing information that put his personal safety at risk, though this was widely interpreted as a reaction to their critical coverage of him. The suspensions were later reversed following public backlash.

### 5. **Mastodon**
   - **Reason:** Mastodon, a decentralized social media platform, was banned after it promoted the ElonJet account, which Musk had banned. The Mastodon account was seen as encouraging what Musk considered doxxing or endangering his personal safety.

### 6. **Antifa Accounts**
   - **Reason:** Several accounts associated with the Antifa movement were banned. Musk has positioned himself as strongly opposed to the Antifa movement, which he has criticized as being violent and extremist.

### 7. **James Lindsay**
   - **Reason:** The conservative author and commentator was banned after violating X's rules on hateful conduct, particularly around issues related to gender identity and LGBTQ+ topics.

### 8. **Other Political and Activist Figures**
   - Various other figures, particularly those engaging in behavior Musk deems harmful or dangerous, have also been banned. This includes accounts that Musk believes violate the platform’s rules around doxxing, harassment, or spreading misinformation.

### Context
Elon Musk's approach to content moderation on X has been controversial, with critics arguing that his actions have been inconsistent with his stated commitment to free speech. He has reinstated some previously banned accounts (like Donald Trump's) while banning others, leading to debates about the balance between free exession and platform safety.

you just reposted that from the other day with some extra hashtags.

8 out of how many accounts on X? each one gives the reason why they were banned, they broke the rules. that is hardly proof of musk clamping down on free speech.

and before he took it over there were far far more independent media channels, conservative or non left accounts blocked or shadow banned...but that didnt seem to bother people.

The problem is Social media in and of itself, People like Yousaf want to control the information so they make hyperbolic statements about those they can't control and who post things they don't like while ignoring those they either control or they agree with, I am sure there is disinformation coming from both sides but only the information that disagrees with those currently in power is targeted, How come there is no desire to regulate Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Linkedin or any of the myriad others that post decidedly progressive views?

How many serving police officers died as a result of the Jan 6. insurrection.........how many serving  police officers died in the BLM riots.......excluding the Boogaloo murder of Patrick Underwood.....nothing to do with BLM?

3-0

Again, you should get your facts right.

ONE police officer died after the January 6 protest because of complications from a pepper spray. Those killed buy their own forces, or suicides, drug overdoses and natural causes, don't count of course.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/January_6_United_States_Capitol_attack

At least NINETEEN people died during BLM protest.

Goodbye, time to add a lying woke to my list

I presume this is a rhetorical question?  There is a reason that X is banned in China, Russia, Iran and other countries where governments cannot and do not want to be held accountable.

The only person currently who is even attempting to hold this tyrannical government to account is Musk, and even he is doing it for his own ends as it drives engagement to his platform.   There doesn't seem to be any opposition at all to the madness or lies coming from the government from the actual opposition, as limited in numbers as they may be.

exactly.

Facebook censored the iconic photo of Trump after the assassination attempt, they claimed it was an accident, but you don't hear a peep about it. apart from Fox, a google search gives hardly any results about it. Had X censored something similar from Biden or Harris there would be nonstop headlines about it.

What was the accident?

A guy sunbathing on a roof and his rifle gone off accidentally?

Not only is Humza Yousef a racist but he is a particularly stupid one.  No doubt he has been even more racist in private messages on the platform of the person he wishes to sue for calling him racist, and as the owner of that platform Elon Musk will know exactly how racist he has been in not only his public statements (which are already pretty racist) but also in his deleted and private messages on there.

Seems to be that Muslims are either deep into politics where they criticize anyone who utters a word against them or are radicals protesting how they are all victims.  They move from their 'paradises' to other countries where they are treated better than the locals then try to change an actual paradise to resemble the <deleted>hole they just left. Their bs seems to be able to fool so many people into believing they are not there to take over.

A lot of people need to wake up and realize that their future generations, their kids or their kids kids, are going to be ruled by these radicals under sharia law.

Hyperbolic is understating it, what did he say, the "most wicked evil"? He's been to Palestine and the most wicked evil he's seen is a Musk tweet?

Yousaf has not seen a lot of wicked evil at all, like none, one has to conclude.

i think you meant "Elon is pretty racist to be honest", that is if you were actually being honest.

Not every convicted felon supporter is racist but every racist is a convicted felon supporter, and Elmo is a perfect example.

It is the job of the 'establishment' and politicians, both in power and in opposition to control the narrative.....you really are quite naive.

you have to specifically log on, so absolutely s**t comparison. people have chosen to listen, it will increase over the coming weeks, just like Tucker/Putin did (214.2m views),  far more than any other politician could get. people want to hear and are sick of the lying MSM nobody trusts the fake news anymore.
