In an unlawful act, teenagers shot guns and fired bomb blasts at a busy marketplace in Ayutthaya, leading to injuries to an 18 year old boy and a 16 year old girl. The police have identified the culprits and are making efforts to arrest them.

Deputy Inspector Chaloemchai Roentaithong from Uthai Police Station got a report of this violent clash involving firearms and explosives at Grand Market, Moo 1, Thanu, Uthai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province early today, August 14, at 2.30am. In response, police officers assisted by volunteers from the Phutthaisawan Foundation, rushed to the location.

At the scene, they found two injured teenagers. An 18-year old boy who had been shot in the left arm, and a 16-year-old girl who had suffered gunshot and shrapnel injuries to her left arm. Both teenagers received immediate first aid and were taken to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital.

A friend who accompanied the injured teenagers said they had gone to eat pork blood soup on their motorcycles. On returning from their meal to their parked motorcycles, they were attacked by a bunch of teenagers on three motorcycles with a ping-pong bomb followed by gunshots. After scattering to escape harm, the attackers left. The friend added that they did not know the attackers.

A Phutthaisawan Foundation volunteer, Siwakul Phuin, said he was on duty when the shooting incident at Grand Market was reported. He said he found a young man and woman injured at the scene, and they were immediately given first aid and taken to the hospital.

A restaurant staff member reported that while cleaning dishes, he heard a loud blast followed by constant gunfire. After the gunfire stopped, he noticed two injured teenagers. He reported that the group of four had just finished their meal and were heading to their motorcycles. He did not have any information about the attackers' identity or motive.

The police found two used bullet shells while investigating the scene. They are questioning witnesses, including the friends of the injured. They are also scrutinizing CCTV footage to identify and arrest the suspects.

The hunt for those involved in the assault and the efforts for their prosecution continue.
