Paetongtarn Shinawatra, 37, was elected as Thailand's 31st Prime Minister on Friday, gaining majority support from the House of Representatives. She becomes the country's youngest and second female leader.

Friday, August 16th, the House of Representatives elected Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the daughter of de facto Pheu Thai leader Thaksin Shinawatra, as Thailand’s 31st prime minister. The decision sparked excitement among Red Shirts and party supporters in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), reported Amarin TV.

Man Dies After Mini Van Hits Tree at Speed, Lampang

A 65-year-old man tragically lost his life after, it is believed, that he may have fallen asleep behind the wheel of a van and crashing into a tree, on the Lampang-Tak road, in Ko Kha District, Lampang Province.

Car Fire at 10-Story Parking Building of Phra Mongkutklao Hospital

On the 17 August, at 03:55 the Phayathai Fire and Rescue Station received a call regarding a car fire at the 10-story parking building of Phra Mongkutklao Hospital, Ratchathewi District. Four vehicles were damaged in the incident.

International media predicts tough road ahead for Thailand’s new PM

The 37-year-old daughter of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra was voted in with 319 votes in favor, 145 against, and 27 abstentions, making her the 31st and second female prime minister of Thailand.


International media reports have highlighted the challenges facing Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Thailand’s youngest-ever prime minister, after being elected by parliament on August 16.

Heavy rain to hit 49 provinces, including Bangkok this evening

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across 49 provinces, affecting the northern, northeastern, eastern, southern regions, as well as Bangkok, with 70% of the area expected to experience storms this afternoon and evening.

Multi Vehicle Collision in Nakhon Si Thammarat Leaves 7 Injured

16 August, early evening, a multi vehicle collision occurred on the Thung Song-Kapang Road near the Huai Khan U-turn in Thung Song District, Nakhon Si Thammarat. Seven people were reported injured at the scene.

Two Year Old Child Drowns in Septic Pit in Nonthaburi

Thaksin Shinawatra Granted Royal Pardon, Released from Prison Term Immediately

Thaksin Shinawatra, was officially released from his prison term, which he is currently on parole from, after being granted a royal pardon. His name was included among the 50,000 prisoners who received clemency as part of a royal decree issued in celebration of His Majesty the King's 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary
