Popular Post SAFETY FIRST Posted August 16, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 16, 2024 On my time off work, A few times a month I wake up early, have breakfast then after the Mrs and the kids head off to school, around 7am, I'll go down to the local Thai shop and drink a few beers with my Thai friends, most of the guys work night shift, Bolt drivers. There's a stretch of road (soi Kophai/Bonkot), just a short drive from home that has a handful of nightclubs that close-down around 9am. You are always guaranteed to see something you've never seen before, where I sit is great entertainment amongst great company. Yesterday morning we were having a chat, drinking our long neck Chang's and the lady shop owner points to this debris on the side of the road, turns out it was one of the drunk Thai chicks passed out. This happens occasionally so I thought I'd take a video because I've told the guys that I work offshore with and they didn't believe me. Looking at the video You see the cops drive by, not stopping, happens occasionally 8am weekdays. 😂 Look at my friends, helping this young woman, wouldn't happen in Australia. I've travelled to over 40 countries, worked many of these countries, the Thai people are the friendliest, good natured, nicest people I've ever met. BTW, if anyone out there in Pattaya is looking for a genuine, caring family man, friendly, great personality, good humoured, honest guy, fluent in English, Thai guy who has studied in Germany for 10 years and has his own car, message me, I'll put you in touch with him. drunk woman soi bongkot.mp4 1 5 3 2 6 5

Yes, could have been both, drugged and drunk. My friends made sure she was placed in a safe place, with her female friend who was in my video. 2 1

Did no-one else recognize her all the time she lay their passed out. Did the lady shop owner help, or not go and look before. Doesn't sound very friendly to me. And you just carried on drinking. 1 2 2 4

Irish star Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Just at Land Transport office , Standing in Line and this huge lady dragging her kid and shopping bags just bowled me over as she was passing by , not even a glance at me , all the Thais looked shocked, but I know not to shout her so I just did a head shake , I get upstairs she’s with her other Buffalo Husband 3 x the size , usually outspoken but I knew it was sketchy and didn’t yell out 2 1

paul1804 Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 With the comments you made it sounds like you have an extremely small circle of Thai friends being the guys you drink beer with early mornings. I guess its great that you have these positive sentiments re your drinking buddies. 1
Popular Post Thingamabob Posted August 17, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 17, 2024 Regarding the Thais, I agree with you, less so regarding the Chinese Thais. I would also make a special mention for the Taiwanese. I spent 5 years living and working in Taiwan, from 1987 to 1993, following various postings in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and East Asia. I found the authentic Taiwanese charming, kind and helpful. 1 1 2

Too much of a generalisation. Plenty of them are selfish, mean, callous, and cheats, especially in Isaarn, just like other countries, but the Thai can add an extra layer of viciousness to it. Many are very shallow. Even in the sticks, the worst for cheating, lying and stealing are other family members. It's very rare to get close to them, it takes years and years, They want to know everything about you, whilst telling you nothing about themselves. Of course there are some wonderful Thais, but let's not get carried away saying that all is fine and dandy in LOS, because long stayers know it isn't. And for the OP, all is well with drinking with taxi drivers early morning thinking they are your friends, until you make an error or one of them is drunk and decides you have been rude or misunderstands you, then you'll see how friendly they are. Seen it plenty of times from my days in Pattaya. 1 1 1 1 5

I was a hotelier and up early in the mornings and had ample opportunity to see the people returning to the hotel and nearby hotels at 7am, we also had a taxi rank, two actually, at either end of the Soi. I saw plenty of foreigners, who having a skinful and don't know when to call it a day, chose to drink with taxi drivers early morning. I've seen it go bad as well, on more than one occasion. 1 1

It's a curious mix, the selfishness is on full display if you drive a car on the road, but in normal daily intercourse Thais are friendly and polite over and above the norm, much like Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia. Vietnamese are totally different and known for being rude. But overall I would say Thais are way more helpful and friendly and polite than the average European and that is one of the many delights of living in Thailand. Having said that, in Europe too people would have helped a passed out woman. And yes, I too have been cheated in Thailand once, but that was an exception, certainnly most Thais are not cheats. 2
