I am specifically talking about security guards in condos/housing projects.

what do these guys actually do?

it seems all they do is walk around all day taking pictures.

Also, who do they actually work for?

as their salary comes from our communal fee then technically they work for us?

yet when you ask them to do something they are often very reluctant and slow.

it's all quite confusing and I am looking for a little clarity as to what their actual purpose is and who they answer to.

thanks.

To my understanding they are required for insurance purposes.

If you're looking for a place to rent watch for their chairs and tables which they don't move. That's where they will be sitting all night.

My Mooban has two gaurds on duties 24/7.

They operate the security gate and  atleast 1 of them patrol the mooban every hour.

In my village they are there to open the gates if your key card does not work or you have forgotten it.

They check all taxis and delivery trucks coming in by taking the DL of the driver and giving a card to give back and get your license when they leave.

If asked they will take delivery of any package you have coming if you are not going to be home.

They keep the entrance to the muban clean and nice by trimming plants, cutting grass, and watering.

They will for a small fee come to your place and water or garden as you like.

They let friends and family in to the muban by remembering the car and driver and direct them to my house.

We have had the same 4 guards for almost 20 years now and they are like family to the village. Someone buys them breakfast lunch and dinner each and every day as they are good guys, honest and hard working, Its kind of fun seeing which family stops and hands a plastic bag of food and drink to them.

Seems like bob has little to no interaction with the guards or the people who live near him. Very different where I live.

mostly lookig for freshly laid dog turds I reckon.... if they find a steamer they go back to CCTV to identify the owner and then issue a fine.

bout 3 months ago on patrol the guard noticed a house on fire so alerted the fire brigade.

Our security guards were great......although I think juristic had them taped.....bought them a couple of boxes of beer for their Christmas party......always a good idea to keep the staff on side.

Our's opens and closes the gate to let motorbikes and cars in to the car park, does a couple of patrols, brings any deliveries (Lazada, AliExpress etc) to our door if dropped at security box, and generally acts as a deterrent to any unauthorised people entering the building.

Occasionally brings fruit or veg for my GF from his garden on occasions goes back to home town, and helps me unload the shopping and cases of water from the car if he sees me doing it.
