A Thai man, Sairachon Saenkham, who recently started a civil service job found out that his academic credentials were false. In order to keep his position, he has sought legal help from the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Rights Protection. After Sairachon publicly disclosed the issue, he started receiving threats. The case is now heading to court.

The 34-year-old man, accompanied by his legal counselor, Piya In-ai, went to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Rights Protection and Legal Assistance at Khon Kaen's provincial office. The visit aimed to secure legal aid and protection after it was discovered that Sairachon's academic documents were not genuine.

Piya said that they first consulted Dr. Itthi Siwannu, the license holder of a technology college in Nong Ruea, Khon Kaen. After looking into Sairachon's documents, Dr. Itthi confirmed they were false and advised legal action against all the people involved.

Sairachon then reported the issue at the Nong Ruea Police Station. The local law enforcement, in turn, suggested him lodge a formal complaint in Pathum Thani, where the educational institution is based. He contacted the Pratunam Chulalongkorn Police Station in Pathum Thani, but officers there indicated they needed more evidence to take the case forward.

Sairachon went back to the Public Prosecutor's Office for more help. Piya pointed out that previous meetings had not led to a direct conversation between Sairachon and Dr. Itthi. The prosecutor has now set up a meeting for the two to discuss the matter.

The legal team agrees that Sairachon should be given the right to continue his job and be protected. They will be seeking to take legal action against all the people who took part in the forgery.

Piya also mentioned that someone claiming to be a college consultant had contacted him, offered to help Sairachon get a master’s degree, and suggested a financial settlement. Sairachon started receiving threats after media reported his case, with warnings of potential lawsuits for tarnishing the college's image.

Sairachon has been receiving threat calls since the news came out and has let his advisor handle all communication. Despite the threats, he remains committed to revealing the truth. He has got support from friends and colleagues, giving him more courage.

Sairachon says the problem comes from a group of educators whose actions have jeopardized his job, future, and ability to support his family. The threats have also increased his distress. He has now urged the Office of the Vocational Education Commission, under the Ministry of Education, to investigate the issue closely.

Without any official support, Sairachon plans to get justice through the legal system. He fears that if left unchecked, similar cases could happen in the future and affect many more families. He has urged the police to be responsible and offer compensation to the victims of fake educational qualifications.

If someone "offered me" a Master's Degree and I didn't have to attend school, take any exams, write any dissertation and so on, I would start to think that the 'qualification' was, in fact, bogus. Using Occam's razor, I have little sympathy for the fellow.
