PM Paetongtarn's Policy Statement critisised as Echo of Thaksin’s Vision
Offering 10k baht to voters was not a bribe then? They are not only guilty of that but of backstabbing the voters by colluding with the parties they fought against for 2 decades. Hypocritical opportunists. FFP were the party with the most votes so Pita should be the PM not daddy's little girl. -

Mixed kid living in Thailand.
International Schools here are the worst mockery of education. Yesterday visited Berkeley at Bang-Na to meet old friend: "wannabee asylum on steroids" Nope, it is the father, not other person. Free healthcare? Never needed. If one can obtain Thai Citizenship that would good for sure, but seriously don't sweat. Good, you paid money for membership, I just deposited it. Your choice of convenience. -

Phuket Named World’s Most Overcrowded Destination Amid Tourism Boom
Are you still in Kata ? I lived there through 20 winters each 5 months long. Right in the center opposite the beach. It was wonderful, arrived in 84 and left after the Tsunami to Hua Hin first. phuket was beautiful, until it wasn’t. i go back regularly for a week to visit old friends, last time 2022. Of course it was after the Pandemic. It was in a sorry state, everything closed down and falling apart, still no pavements, no street lights at night , bad garbage collection. A friend went a few months ago and said it was unbearable, traffic jams everywhere, imagine an overcrowded beach ,what you see in the above video is nowhere near the realty , it’s much worse .Restaurants full to breaking , no staff, queues to get a table then waiting an hour to get served, unless you’re Russian and click your fingers. Queues in the 7/11 etc etc. Not a life. My Thai friends are devastated, some even moved to the North of Thailand . The original landowner families sold up their land 20 odd years ago for a lot of money, of course today that land is worth 20 times more or plus , and that’s where the hundreds of condos have sprung up . Most of the villas that have been built on the surrounding hills are illegal . The Phuket authorities have bled Phuket dry , take take take and no investment, putting nothing in to the island to keep it the lovely place it was. I have hundreds of beautiful photos from the 80s and it’s enough to make anyone cry. The damage is done. -

What’s the best area in Thailand for expats to settle for long-term living?
Where to settle in Thailand is extremely dependent on life style and income, if you don't have a Thai partner that wish your settlement to be in the partner's area. When I was searching for where to settle in Land of Smiles about 20 years ago, I visited places of potential interest, before I made my decision. If you also do that, make visit both in the dry season and in the rainy season – some places you might need jetski or boat during the wet period – and up north also in the cold season. I finally settled on a southern island, as I both like the sea and the view of same, and furthermore "all year summer" and the party life. Island-living is often little more expensive than mainland, and tourist areas often little more expensive than more rural destinations; so, ongoing cash flow can also be part of a choice. -

Suphan Buri: Subdistrict Administrative Member Caught Exploiting 12-Year-Old Girl
Aunt is most likely Illiterate and will get away with a rollicking. The Perverted 'Offficial' will be transfered to somewhere near a Border away from anyone who knows anything about it and life will continue as normal. In the 20 years i have lived here i have lost count of such cases along with Men in the Family sexually assaulting their own Offspring, Grandchildren, Nieces, etc etc. I can never remember a single person being sent to Prison for any such offence ! -

'Love tourists': Single men travelling overseas to find a bride
Sounds about right for a best case scenario. None of motley crew pictured in the video can be described as 'drop dead gorgeous' and anyway, beauty comes from within. Idiots who treat women as sex objects soon get their 'wake up' call.- 1

Troybilt Riding Mower
First I want to thank all of you for taking the time and trying to help. The big store in Buriram That sold the mower to me and assured me that there would be no problem for future parts has been unhelpfiul to say the least. Tomorrow my daughter will take me and the battery to Korat to make the rounds of the boxstores. I was hoping that existing owners of the mower would post where they were able buy replacement battery but maybe I am in the wrong forum to find owners? Thanks again and best wishes. Will advise how my road trip works out.
