Bus Carrying Isan Dance Troupe Collides with German’s Car, Three Injured
Picture from responders. A bus carrying dancers from the popular Isan folk music troupe “Mor Lam Siang Isan” collided with a car on the Stuek-Kandong road in Buriram province, leaving three people injured. The crash occurred on Christmas Day, when the driver of a Ford car, identified as a 78-year-old German national, made an abrupt U-turn in the middle of the road, resulting in a violent crash with the oncoming bus. The bus, a white Nissan, was en route from Sisaket province to continue a performance in Nakhon Ratchasima when the crash took place. Fortunately, the bus driver, 49-year-old Thanya from Udon Thani, was able to apply the brakes in time to reduce the severity of the collision. “I was driving slowly when the car suddenly turned in front of me,” he said. “If I had been speeding, the situation would have been much worse.” The crash occurred near the village of Dong Yai Phao, Tambon Nikom, in the Stuek district. The car was left blocking the road with damage to its rear right door, while the bus suffered only minor damage to its front. The 22 dancers on board the bus were unharmed, but the driver and passengers in the car sustained injuries. Rescue teams provided first aid at the scene and transported the injured to Stuek Hospital for further treatment. Despite the crash, the troupe is set to continue their performance as scheduled, with no serious injuries reported among the dancers or crew. The investigation into the collision is ongoing. -- 2024-12-26 -

Four Workers Unconscious After Tank Repair Incident in Samut Prakan
Picture from responders. Four workers lost consciousness while repairing a damaged pipe in a wastewater treatment tank at a factory in Samut Prakan’s Bang Pu Mai area. Emergency responders rushed to the scene and provided resuscitation efforts, transporting the workers to the hospital. The incident occurred at a factory within a leather-tanning industrial estate located near kilometre marker 34 on Sukhumvit Road. Rescue teams found four male workers of Myanmar nationality unconscious inside the tank. They were quickly retrieved, given first aid, and transported to a nearby hospital. According to reports, two workers have since been stabilised, while the other two remain in critical condition in ICU. Pol. Maj. Gen. Wichit Boonchinwutthikul, Commander of the Samut Prakan Provincial Police, revealed that the workers had descended into the tank to carry out urgent pipe repairs after wastewater began leaking heavily. A colleague remained at the surface to assist. Preliminary investigations suggest that the pipe within the treatment system was damaged and leaking, leading to either a build up of toxic gases or displacement of air below breathable levels in the tank. Forensic teams are expected to conduct a thorough inspection to determine the exact cause of the incident. -- 2024-12-26 -
