Yeah, that looks like a picture of an accident that needs a lot of explanation. How in the world did the pick-up truck end up there?

If you look at the video there is also another separate crash on the other side of the road at about 0.08 seconds !!  :w00t:

Thai media are reporting that the red pickup truck driver first lost control and crossed lanes, hitting a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction, which sends that pickup into the first accident in the video. The red pickup driver starts to lose control at 0.04 in the video above.

The red pickup is then hit by the bus and is squashed into the rear of the minivan. The driver, decreased,  has now been identified as Mr. Sathit Kiao, 40 years old.

If the red vehicle is what's left of the pickup, it looks like in the vid that the bus pushed the pickup into the van. Maybe the pickup was trying to squeeze in front of the bus? Either way the bus was going way too fast to stop.

I don't think the bus was going much faster than the allowed speed on that road.

What he probably didn't do was 1.) not immediately braking when he slammed into the red pick (shock seconds) 2.) not performing an emergency brake (no training or experience)

As comparison a staged brake test
