In the early morning of September 7, at approximately 07:30, authorities received a report of a fire breaking out at a monk’s residence within the grounds of Wat Khlong Khru in Tha Sai subdistrict, Mueang district, Samut Sakhon province. Firefighters and emergency personnel quickly rushed to the scene to contain the blaze.

Upon their arrival, the firefighters worked swiftly to bring the fire under control. By the time the flames were extinguished, the blaze had already consumed the upper level of a number of rooms within the residence. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as the fire was contained before it could spread further or endanger the lives of the monks and other residents at the temple.

The preliminary details indicates that the fire was localised to the upper level of the residence, where three rooms were significantly damaged.

Authorities are extinguishing the remaining embers and assessing the extent of the damage. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and officials are conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the exact circumstances that led to the incident.

Temple officials and local residents have expressed relief that no one was injured, and that the fire did not spread to other parts of the temple grounds.

Sad to see such an amazing looking building going up in smoke like that.  Glad there were no injuries to the occupants or the emergency services folks.
