This comes just weeks after the Constitutional Court deposed former Thailand PM Srettha Thavisin for severely violating political ethics. The six parties under scrutiny include Bhumjaithai, Palang Pracharath, Ruam Thai Sang Chart, Chart Thai Pattana, Prachachart, and Pheu Thai itself, led by Thaksin's daughter, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. Thaksin, despite being legally barred from political activities due to prior misconduct charges, allegedly convened a crucial meeting at his residence on August 14, directing the coalition’s next steps. Thaksin’s involvement is significant because, under Thai law, he is prohibited from participating in politics. However, he reportedly hosted an urgent meeting attended by prominent coalition members just hours after the court's decision to depose Srettha Thavisin. This gathering, allegedly directed by Thaksin, aimed to ensure the leadership of Pheu Thai MP Chaikasem Nitisiri as a new prime ministerial candidate, while maintaining the coalition's grip on power. The key figures in this controversial meeting included Bhumjaithai leader Anutin Charnvirakul, former Palang Pracharath secretary-general Thammanat Prompao, Ruam Thai Sang Chart secretary-general Eknath Prompan, and Defence Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, among others. Each attended this secret session at Thaksin's Chan Song Lah residence, reported Thai Newsroom. The legal proceedings triggered by Noparut’s petition to the Election Commission mark one of several steps aimed at dismantling these coalition partners over their alleged unconstitutional manipulation by Thaksin. Should the court rule in favour of the dissolution, the leaders and executive members of these parties, including Paetongtarn Shinawatra, face the possibility of being banned from political activities for several years. -- 2024-09-10 Get the ASEAN NOW daily NEWSLETTER - Click HERE to subscribe 1 1 1 2 1 1 1

If this is a known & proven fact, then why is Thaksin not under arrest?? Obviously, he is above the law what a sad state of Thai law 3 2 7

Popular Post Sydebolle Posted September 10, 2024 Popular Post Posted September 10, 2024 It is absolutely irrelevant; the fact is not, that Thaksin is so strong but it clearly proves - over decades now - that Thailand is far, far away from a functioning democracy. If Thaksin can control the country with an invisible remote control while being in "exile" it proves not only his composed, resilient and focussed strength but also the inability of any opposition to be a real opposition. The only thing they can do is bickering around, accusing each other over corruption or disloyalty to the flag. Most have not understood yet, that Thaksin is doing this to reinstate his face, position and reputation which he lost in September 1996 - and we all know, that the face is above absolutely everything to 99.9% of Khon Thai 😉 The rest is levered out by the semi-divine nine men at the equally semi-divine court - as so proven dozens of times already since 1932. So in all honesty, what are you talking about - seriously? 2 3
Popular Post connda Posted September 10, 2024 Popular Post Posted September 10, 2024 In Dubai: I need to come back to Thailand and live out my old age with my grandchildren. Back in Thailand: I'm so frail and ill that I can't be placed in prison. Once released: I'm so frail and ill. See the neck brace and mask, and arm sling. I'm barely able to walk. Look how weak I am. <boo hoo> Pardoned: (Looking as fit as a fiddle): Well let's get the parties huddled together so I can take-over control of Thai politics by proxy again. I know - let's put my daughter in charge. What's wrong with this picture and why is it being allowed Where are all the medical props now? (asking for a friend) 🤔 Really - Thaksin is barred from politics? And yet his daughter is the PM which allows him to directly control the government using his daughter as his proxy. This is wrong in 100 different ways. 1 3

The EC has been used to remove new contenders from participating in politics. However, it is past time for the Thaksin political-machine to be dismantled and allow for a reshuffling of the deck, minus those to have been running the show directly or from behind the curtains. While the EC is at it, they should make campaign promises to empty the Thai treasury into the pockets of the voters if the voters vote their party(ies) into office. It's vote-buying and it is part-and-parcel corruption. 2

These folk are probably the only ones that can de-fang the military wannabees. That is why there were two coups and all of this effort on removing them. It is not being done for the benefit the Thai people. 1 2
