that (TM47) won't work, because someone can leave before reaching 90 days and reentry thailand again ...

 

however, if the TRD do start strictly enforce the tax lawn on foreigners, they will not let you fool them ...

What we don't know, is how they will be calculating, how they will be collecting, how much will need to be paid, and the punishment for non compliance.  More will be revealed early 2025. 

 

What we do know for 100% is, if you are inside Thailand for less than 180 days per calendar year, this policy does not apply to you, and you have ZERO tax liability as you are a non resident of Thailand for tax purposes.  For some, they may not only give them peace of mind, but also be financially beneficial.

That's the 65k baht a month method. 

 

The 800k baht method generally means you use some / all of the 800k, and top it up near extension time. 

 

Very funny if the account shows a solid 800k, with no out goings and no in comings, and you are still living here.  If so, question, what law have you broken?

A tax ID was not mentioned, although I did submit a photocopy of my pink Thai ID card.

Many people may have a tax id (from reclaiming tax withholding on bank interest for example) but tax returns based on the changes are not due until January 2025 earliest....

To clarify - BoI may be discontent they did not achieve the statistics they wanted - but those who qualified and obtained the visa read to be reasonably content with the Visa.

Many didn't get the LTR because the visa didn't suit them, therefore, they can not be disappoint with it.

I was going to bring up this very issue.  If the visa is so attractive, and sure to make all holders "content" then why didn't a lot, lot more people jump on it????  Serious question.

Probably because most foreigners living here do not qualify for a LTR visa. I'm very content with my LTR-WP visa.

You would have to bring that up with the BoI.

 

Perhaps they were hoping to attract a level of wealth to Thailand, that was not as interested as BoI hoped

 

Again - I have yet to meet one person, with the LTR who is disappointed.  ie. for each and everyone who obtained the LTR visa ,the LTR visa IS what it was cracked up to be.

 

The one's complaining are pretty much those who did not try, or tried and did not get the visa. 

 

It may be a 'sad' truth, but that is the truth.
