Advice me on car window tint

I had a dealer put tint on for me on my new car, 6 months later I had a mole removed from my face which wasn't there before.

The doctor advised me to check the tint and if it wasn't UV, to get it removed and replaced with UV tint which I did.

American brand, 60/40 recommended by the installer who took me to his car, I sat in it, and it was much cooler than my car even being in the sun.

He said the 60/40 was just right for night driving, 40 for the front, albeit it I added a spot light for darker roads which make is harder to see with no street lights.

The most important take home is to make sure 110% that the tint is UV otherwise you will feel the sun on your face through the drivers window & through the front window, and boy does it burn. That will also happen if it's not UV.

I opted for the bronze colour tint, no one can tell, people can't see you, but they will see a shadow, personally can't stand the dark tints that you can't see into, but this is Thailand, wouldn't be allowed in a western country as it's too dangerous, that is why they have guidelines and restrictions.

Sir so u blame mole on a tint?

What about when u out and about going out... Doesn't make any sense.

I think my tint is 10% front and rear, but I still find that at night its too dark unless on main beam ( Both my headlights come on with High beam, that is the cars design) Anyhow I have fitted 2 extra Motorcycle spot lamps I can turn on. They are brighter than my headlights.

Not down Sukhumvit road Pattaya in a Black Toyota Vios with a 90% tint you can't !!!! :whistling:

But I think your point is you have plenty of riding / driving experience - which of course helps...

...But back to the tint point - it doesn't matter how well we can drive if we can't see a motorcycle in front of us because the tint is too much.

Yes that's why I came here to talk about it. And not for miserable half blind ppl tell me how to drive.

There is a legal limit.   Over the years, there have been some threads on it.  Also some anecdotal stories of people being pulled over in LOS because their window tint was too dark.

In Europe cops got special gear to measure how much light goes through.

They don't in Thailand.

When you can do that driving at night is easy.

Not when you can't see the road ahead, obstacles other vehicles or pedestrians  because the window tint is too dark..

One "trick" I saw on some cars is that they leave out a small triangle of tint  near the side mirrors  but that obviously doesn't help much

trying to spot traffic at corners   perhaps  some strategically placed cut outs on all windows would work to an extent  but with huge blind spot issues.

I think I read on here somewhere that there is a very expensive film that   only blocks UV  not the visible light  may be better for night time driving.

If that's true (and I have no reason to doubt you on it), that would scare me even more.  They'd probably find more scofflaws on the days further away from payday.

The Associate Professor that operated had asked me a number of questions and stated that it was common here for drivers to get moles on the right side of their face, as most didn't have UV tinting on their cars.

I was a driver for years overseas, similar climate in summer, and never had tinting on my cars, there wasn't a need as I never felt the sun burn me like here.

Sure you can ask did 6 months driving here in this sun with no UV tinting cause a mole to get on the right side of my face, well who knows, all I know, it wasn't on my face when I was overseas.

I know this much, once the UV tints went on, my face and arm wasn't burning anymore when exposed to the sun.

He also told me to keep out of Thailand's sun, not that I'm white, I have olive skin being (European), the sun here cooks you like there's no tomorrow, in just a short time, so I cover up best I can when out there.

Sorry but they do have the equipment.

I registered a new vehicle some years back and they used a meter to measure the tint.

I had to remove the brand new tint before they would register it.

You still see it with tints it's not like you don't see anything. I had tints on many cars including most dark one and never crashed.

You can crash in bright day there is no rule.

Oh Jerzy bredzisz.

Had many cars here no one ever measured it. Also it's dealer who manage all reg process, red plate, then normal plate.

And cops here drive scooter bikes they got no gear at all.

Also I drive here 10 years and been stopped just few times going through checkpoints.

Also if they stop me and fine me 1000 then that's fine.

You can't even get my name right so no chance of getting your facts right.

I bought the vehicle in Bangkok and then registered it myself in my home province.

I was refused a registration plate because the tint was 5% over the limit.

Moral of the story is to get the vehicle registered before having the tint installed.

U know it's Thailand right?

They told me to take all wrap from Fortuner when I was renewing tax. It's wrap for top models TRD it makes car half white half black that's how they come out factory but in the document books color is white, so they tell you remove it and pay for removal or no tax. All I did was went to few other tax offices and found friendly one and got it taxed.

And I didn't say ur name there.

Are you sure about that?

I don't even take my car to the DLT to renew my tax.

They only want the blue book and insurance and money.

No inspection ever needed for tax, only for change of ownership.

Anyway, let's move on. This thread is supposed to be about window tint.

You're truly a menace to the traffic on the road.

You can be just as dead on a small bike as any other  vehicle,

Karen?       Is that all you're got?       :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

I had 15% on my side windows, dealer told me on top of my subaru windows it will be about 12%..Great for daylight sun but at night almost 2 months takes some getting used to.

I sometimes have to roll down my drivers windows to see WTF I'm going

All tints are 99% UV..unless cheap crap they are pawning on you.

I added 89% heat resistance which is the best tint for Texas heat.

Well mister arrogant if you have been living here for ten years then why do you need to ask about tint?

You already know it all!

I am certainly not a Sunday church driver but i have been living here for a few months already and most old timers on here know a person who was killed in traffic.

No need to talk you any further.

I didn't want to risk it.   There's a long list of posters that we no longer hear from.  RIP.

Because he thinks it looks......cool 😂
