Isn't it standard that if guy breaks off engagement she can keep the ring.  If she breaks off engagement then she should at least offer to give it back (my ex offered ring back & I told her to stick it up her arse)

  • Are you asking for a friend?

  • My personal belief is that an engagement ring is gifted. There were no conditions applied at the time.

When you give somebody a cock ring you expect it back.

It also depends on how much you spent. If it put a huge dent into your finances maybe you can ask for it. Otherwise move on.

If you broke off the engagement, caused her lots of grief, and big loss of face, you should be more concerned about getting away with your nuts, never mind the ring.

Just checking in here, according to the www, the ring should be returned as it is not a gift but a condition for a future event.. Western thinking...  Now does this apply to Thai culture?    If she does not return the ring is it SOL?

When it comes to money which the ring is Thai's have a whole different perspective on what is fair & reasonable, the law means little as wealth is above all!!!

Brother, just keep walking. You did not bite the whole bullet.

Interesting comments and recommendations on the topic. In viewing the comments and looking at other information sites, it appears that in the USA situation, it depends on the state who gets to keep the ring. Thus, it seems almost a 50/50 situation. It is a condition on a promise, therefore not followed through, the ring is returned... If the fault is with the male, then the woman may keep it.... As for the Thai situation.. that was only a question if the problem would occur here.   It is open season in Thailand.

There was an interesting case on the tube for an Engagement ring valued at 70K USD... The judge returned it to the male.

The judge was a female and the court was in California.
