It will stay in the news for a week or two, then be forgotten like all the other "tragedies", expect no changes, and continued business as usual. You only need to look back at the Zebra crossing issue, nothing has changed!

I totally agree, the same as all the night club fires over the years caused by poor wiring installation. Many people died in these fires and  a few weeks later all was forgotten. Most of the same night clubs were rebuilt and are probably no safer than the previous buildings were.

The immediate government priority is to offer full support and condolences to the families affected and provide necessary medical and emotional support to those injured.

Yes, they need this from the ruling class.

I'm sure that will make the parents feel a lot better!

In many countries it is common to show that the nation support the victims

It’s ok to get upset in such a tragic situation, this just shows her humanity.

Now, to prove her humanity she is perfectly placed to exact effective & lasting change….

Let’s see if LGV busses are still on the roads a month or a year from now.

Let’s see the owner (not the driver) prosecuted for allowing an unsafe vehicle into operation.

Let’s see if the owners of all these haulage Lorrie’s get their brakes checked…..

And being a young Mother herself - the empathy feelings would have been overwhelming.

That’s BS. she’s supposed to be the country’s leader. It’s part of her job to address significant events. I believe sympathy is a more appropriate word than empathy.

If you can not make a verbal and correct response as a PM, then you have nothing to do at that position. Resign!

and the next words out of her mouth should have been something to the effect of : we will be putting into law immediately

mandatory documented inspections, certifications of all transport veichles using LPG so we can prevent this from ever happening again ...

Those words should have been coming out of somebody's mouth 50 years ago and followed up with legislation that was enforced,  if indeed anybody really cared, clearly they don't.

This horrific disaster must never happen again.

But of course, it will,  it is just a matter of time

I doubt she has any idea whatsoever as to what her responsibilities are.  she has no experience in government at all.  I think we can expect to see tears regularly from her, not unexpected behaviour from a spoilt little rich girl.   Especially one who has been gifted a job that is well beyond the level of her incompetence.  Not to worry Daddy will fix it

It's good that she's taking notice and seems to want to do something about it. However thousands of men women and children are killed or injured on the roads in Thailand. Any country having such a large number of motorcycles will tend to have higher fatalities but it seems to be worse than in other similar countries. We all know how bad driving is here, and vehicle maintenance. Pink busses seem to be a particular problem in regards to public transport

Put in place a proper driving test and enforcement rather than bribes to the police. The driving rules here are pretty much the same as I'm used to in the UK and probably much of the west. This would have the effect of reducing the number of vehicles on the road and reduce carbon emissions. Better signage around road construction and improved road building and repair. That should be a good start. If she doesn't at least start to do it then this is all just PR.

Nailed it, Its all a performance, looks good for the cameras, and reduces the chances of her being asked too  many awkward questions, the expected behaviour of a spoilt little girl who has found herself totally out of her depth,  She is crying for daddy to come and make it all go away.   Equally nauseating is the arrival en-masse of the white uniformed elite at the hospital brandishing their wicker baskets of "brand" with  their faux messages of sympathy

Kids and adults are dying everyday in road accidents here, often as a direct result of governmental inaction or corruption, if her tears and the sympathies of the elite were genuine and heartfelt  she would be crying every single day , and there would be a full time job for the white uniformed "brand" bearing professional sympathisers.

Their reactions and public shows of concern and sadness, are, as usual,  directly proportional  to the heightened media coverage of this incident, What about all the others who die in traffic  or any other accidents every day were government negligence is a factor?   presumably their lives don't matter to the same degree?

If I'd seen your post earlier I wouldn't have need to write my post. You've said it better than me.

It's their country of course and they can do what they want but if they don't act then they are people who allow men, women and children to be needlessly killed because they can't be bothered to take responsibility.

The frustrating thing is it is not just others who put them in danger......they put themselves in danger without a second thought.

They do believe in their amulets/fate and that is huge problem.

My wife is going to a festival this week.....and a pound to a penny she'll travel in the back of an open truck with a gang and  no designated driver for sure.
