Right at the bottom of the picture, it looks like impact has ripped the top yoke away from the steering head. FFS, he must have been doing Stupid mph to do that!! The forks aren't at that angle to the frame because they're bent!

The way so many bikes fly downhill on Pratumnak-5, a congested area all times of day, I'm surprised there aren't more bad accidents there.  Stopping a speeding bike is hard enough, downhill makes it that much more dangerous.

That is an easy U-turn manoeuvre under the flyover and going left of the flyover leads to the new-style U-turn lane; This was an accident with the flyover.

 

I don't believe the first picture relates to the incident - those bikes are facing the wrong way on a carriageway and that is not a 900cc bike.

That flyover/U-turn approach is tricky on a motorbike.  If like me, I'm usually in the leftmost lane, letting faster traffic pass by on the right.  There are arguably 5 lanes of traffic. The U-turn configuration isn't readily apparent until you are close and realize that to continue straight travel, you have to cross 2 lanes to the right pretty quickly to enter the flyover. That's not easy with traffic flying by on the right.  I have often found myself taking the U-turn ramp just because I couldn't cross right safely in time.

 Well none of them are actually rockets in reality so I guess  you are technically correct . 

                I didn't realise that there was an "official" definition of a slang phrase like "crotch rocket"    probably because there isn't one.    Its a 900cc motorcycle that is capable of very high speed and acceleration  and the main point of contact with the rider is the crotch.   That fulfills the definition of crotch rocket for all but the most pedantic on here.  There is nothing ignorant about describing it as such, in fact a motorcycle half the size would fit the description

No place for a big bike in Thailand. Too fast for the road conditions and adherance to the road rules by others. My last big bike was an FZR1000 in 1988. Would still do 160mph (257kph) even for an old bike then. I'm happy these days with my ADV150 at 118kph maximum. The freedom feeling on a bike is incredible, but sadly he found perpetual freedom. RIP the big biker.

So Sweden is unlike Thailand where they drive on either side of the road!  I recall a close call as a pedestrian crossing Beach Road Pattaya, which is (supposedly) one way only (heading south), as I focused solely on the oncoming southbound traffic and was almost hit by a bike heading north.

Agreed.  It is hard to ride a big bike truly safely in LOS.  That would certainly be the case for me (with over 50 years of riding experience) as it is so very hard to ride a big bike slowly and never give in to the temptation to ride more quickly. The issue is not the rider's lack of skill, but the complete lack of discipline of other road users.  Sooner or later something will happen totally unforeseen which, at 50 kph can most likely be avoided/survived, but at 200 kph is a shortcut to "RIP".
