Trump’s new ‘Swiss-made’ watches

Featured Replies

According to one programme I watched, which included a review by an "horologist" (?) the movements of the watches were actually Chinese made fakes with an approximate value of USD 100 or so. The cases were gold plated.

All rather academic though, the delivery dates and details were rather vague, it was suggested that the real intent of the scheme was to allow the transfer of large sums of money into the Trump coffers from abroad, under the pretext of buying watches, which may or may not be delivered at some as yet undetermined date.

“Some of the best watches in the world”

Just another grift.

There's a section of Bangkok, somewhere around Yaowarat and Phahurat where there are wholesale bazaars for different gadgets, e.g. a whole alley of sunglass vendors, or electric lamps, or tools, etc.  There is one for watches.  Whoever is making these DT watches is probably making others that go out the back door and sells for less than a tourist would pay for a nights lodging.

But the joke is the scam itself: it's a $$$ laundering op, pretty obvious.  It's not a campaign contribution, it's a money in the pocket.
