AndreasHG
EssilorLuxottica operates a large plant in Rayong manufacturing ophthalmic lens and frames, covering 220,00 sqm and employing 6,000 people. Prices in Thailand shall be competitive, due to no import duties. For those who don't know EssilorLuxottica, the company owns the brands Ray-Ban, Persol, Oliver Peoples, Alain Mikli, Oakley, Foster Grant, Costa Del Mar and many more, in addition to licensing prescription and non-prescription sunglasses frames for many luxury and designer brands including Chanel, Prada, Giorgio Armani, Burberry, Versace, Dolce and Gabbana, Michael Kors, Coach, Miu Miu and Tory Burch. Popular Post Ctkong
Brought missus recently to Singapore and visited a branded sunglasses store. Asked for the price and was told it was around US$ 400. I asked them if the plastic frames could deformed if left too long under the sun in the car. “Isn’t it made of plastic?” was the reply. I would have thought for the price it could be made from some engineered plastics that could withstand high temperature under the sun as car interior can go up to 70 degree Celsius . Finally missus got a couple of premium ‘branded ‘ sunglasses made in China when we visited Ho chi Minh , paid a tenth of the price and couldn’t felt better. 2

Fair price for the quality. I paid about the same for Linea Roma with single vision distance lenses in Paraguay about 15 years ago. I also purchased a pair of Wrangler reading glasses from the same shop but can't remember the cost of those.

Sigmund
I would never buy quality googles in Thailand. They would be far more expensive then in the west. Not to mention the chances of being cheated with fake goods. Best trick is to go and try the model you like back home in a reputable shop and then you purchase the same model and size from a reliable internet store in your home country. Prices will always be far better. And No, it's not being a Cheap Charles or whatever. It's plainly not being guilable and stupid.

One or both lenses fall out about every three weeks (probably poor edge grinding not consistent with the frame) but more than that the frame was promoted as Lacoste - the same green alligator. It turns out it is a Chinese brand called Alligator! The plastic pieces that touch your nose are obviously very low in plastic and cause sores constantly. In short, this chain is deceptive, overcharges, and has very poor quality, avoid at all costs. They are a total rip off. fantastic folding glasses.. and depending where you order them $12-$20 and yes they fold flat to fit in that case

They shipped my glasses from Sweden presumably their cost effective distribution hub? It takes 2+ weeks delivery time.
JimTripper
"They" don't do good optical here. It's too specialized a field. Thai's are also too rushed typically in personality to do a perfect job, or it's an anxiety issue. Either way, it's not usually done correctly the first time. I get mine done in the USA when I go back and pay a premium to have them done correctly. Edited October 27 by JimTripper
