I met Mr Independent
Sounds like when Mr. independent dies. No-one will know or care or do anything to get his body taken care of. I would hate to see what happens to him in the future if he gets old enough whereas he becomes senile or handicapped. I hope he is filthy rich to pay for someone to care for him since currently no-one does. -

Air Asia - Ahead of their Game
My wife and I are planning a trip to Krabi next week. Last night I looked up AirFares with Air Asia for a RETURN fare from Chiang Mai to Krabi. for two passengers The fare out from Chiang Mai was showing at B13,000 and the homeward fare at B4,900. Nearly B18000 I thought, too much and somehow a little lop-sided! I remember from other experiences with AirAsia within Thailand that it is sometimes better to book two singles; one outward and one single back When I went to the site this morning the single fare was showing B10,000 each way. So I consulted with my wife and we agreed we would try to book one single from the Thai page and and from the English page at the same time. I was able to find a fare with VietJet, CM to Krabi including a stop that wasn't too bad to bear for B5,400 for the two of us and she was able to find an Air Asia fare for B4,500 non-stop back to CM for five days later. Total return fares for two just on B10,000 Outcome is that we are booked and confirmed. From Krabi probably to Koh Lanta - not booked there yet! Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside! -

That's a bargain for the Marriage-based extension, compared to the crap you and your wife can be put through otherwise. I'm not saying this is "good or right," of course. Someone married to a Thai being put through the wringer or extorted, for a meager "1 more year," to live with your wife is disgusting. -

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
well I have read the Thai Revenue Official English translation of the rules that we have to follow - includes having assessable income so must obtain a Thai tax ID number within 60 days and if one has no assessable income then one doesn't have to obtain a tax ID number file ther tax forms. Now I do realize we are in THailand and since TIT, as they come out with the new tax forms, there may also be some adjustment of the revenue rules on the tax ID as well as who must file the tax forms. Since the LTR specifically says we do not have to pay tax on remitted foreign income, unless they change that rule too then I don't see how we must file the income tax form. But TIT and changes are the true constant. And, the current govt could be gone before too long and even more changes may come about. As a last resort, the PI awaits for all or return to the US if after the election it remains viable. The worry about the LTR is just like all the worry about the tax changes that will most likely affect very few people. As has been said by those who went to the local revenue dept office, those people don't even have a clue yet. It will be November in just a couple of days, wonder if the "new tax forms" are even close to being finalized. -

You got your topic from the worst place ever. Reddit!! It is not a rumor or a fact. It is one persons thinking only. Perhaps because they met some lowlife on the street begging for money and he had not taken a shower. Something to think about when you are with Thai. It is not their fault though. The foods they eat give them really bad smell from their breathe. Chinese people smell even worse when they sweat or breathe. If i do not shower and sweat in this heat, I smell sour or ripe if not using deodorant. I am sure you also smell bad if you have not taken care of the smell produced from sweat.. -

Help needed-Smart Home control devices & Apps
I recently bought a Yieryi 7-in-1 pool water monitor that has a Zigbee interface. Yieryi cautioned that I need a Zigbee Wireless Gateway/Hub to connect to the meter. I got a NESTHome Wifi/Zigbee gateway on Lazada but cannot connect to the Gateway. I have downloaded Yieryi's app but come to find out that it is like all other home device control apps, with many of the screens even being the same. The idea is seems, is to install the app on your phone, 2.4GHz WiFi only, same network as the gateway uses. Once the app connects the Gateway device to the phone, one adds the 'subdevice' water monitor or whatever after that by pushing the reset button on the water monitor. The Gateway device commonly has a blue and red light and in WiFi pairing mode the blue light is steady and the red is slow flash. This is normal and indicates to try to pair the app with the Gateway. When you initiate the pairing the app starts a device search for the Gateway device but never finds it. Neither of the apps I've tried seem to be able to connect to the router. Both are generic TUYA apps that have several types of Gateway/Hub devices to choose from, some Bluetooth, some Zigbee, some BLE whatever that is! I tried about 6 WiFi/Zigbee devices with no joy. I have to assume that all the smart home devices that use WiFi use the same method and must be very easy to use or nobody would want them. If anybody has any such gateways and home devices (this is my first try) maybe you can help me understand some obvious thing I'm doing wrong. I can't believe it is this hard to do. BTW, email and online chat with Yieryi have gone unanswered. I wish I could find a local office but that's just a wet dream. Any help is appreciated, even to just understand the basics of home control tech. This link is to Yieryi page advertising the monitor. Amazingly they sell this on Amazon USA for $200 but I paid about 2,300THB on Lazada.
